Discussion: Trump Goes On Extended Rant About Subpoena Of Don Jr

Jr. just like Sr. always says the most incriminating words

Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets ... we see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.

But the Intelligence Committee has been trying to schedule a second interview with Trump Jr. for weeks, according to people familiar with the negotiations, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The panel is bringing back several key witnesses for second interviews to give lawmakers a chance to question people previously interviewed only by committee staffers.

The subpoena is not new; it was issued at least a week ago, people familiar with the matter said. But a person close to Trump Jr. argued that no lawyer would allow him to go back to the panel for open-ended questioning.

A good lawyer would have advised against his conception.

His son, “the very good person”, who he had to drag out of his college dorm bed from a drunk stupor, had to slap around, tell him to get dressed and come home with him.

@g_k hahahaha

“Extended rant” is clearly redundant.

They are all such whiners.

Here is Mulvaney whining that he wasn’t given notice that this subpoena was coming and that it’s “bad form” not to give him notice <in his role of acting CoS?>.

Hilarious whenever Trump calls reporters “rude”, or anyone in the administration says others are guilty of “bad form.”

I would LOVE to see an indictment brought against Don Jr or any family member. I think Trump’s head might actually explode. I’d pay $1 to see that.

It’s a great example of the fatigue and new norms settling in. His presser was unhinged and incoherent, the kind of thing that should by itself have responsible officials reading up on the 25th Amendment…but no, it’s just another morning in Trumpland.

No, traitor_tRump, your son isn’t a good person, just another rapacious smarmy rich crook. Nothing unique there. We’re up to our eyeballs in those these days it seems.

I think a cornered rat is more accurate.

I’m actually really surprised, as well. This sets up a very awkward set of choices for the admin: 1. continue with their refusal to respond to any subpoenas from congress, thereby showing the public that this isn’t just an inter-party squabble, or 2) allow Don Jr to show up, and be caught up in his lies to the committee, providing a clear, current example of the cover-up in action. The people around Trump realize that they’re painted into a corner on this one. If I were a Republican, I would be really pissed at Burr, right now.

“Of course, as I have mentioned previously, I never thought we could be such a stupid people, as to elect a reprobate like Donald J. Trump. Therefore, I consider my judgement suspect in anything political these days.”

Alas, I have a relative to whom I can nolonger speak, because I would be unable to refrain from saying, as you point out about ‘stupid people’ — All I would be able to say to my relative is ‘HOW could YOU be so STUPID’.

How we get from there to a unified country once again escapes me.
Abraham Lincoln said – “you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time’. I just have to think that donald fooled some people, and hopefully to quote the “W” -->” Fool me once, shame on you", (then he forgot the rest of the old saying and said.)…“don’t get fooled again”

I’d like to put up a lot of Billboards in red states with a pict of donald with the Pinocchio-nose shadow and some saying about ‘fool me once…’

Why should the Senate Republicans have to notify an “acting Chief of Staff”? Isn’t their time more important than a mere staffer?

So since I got here late what is/was the purpose of this presser? And who are those people standing behind this idiot? Were any of them able to make a clean get away?

Yup. By the hour.
