Exactly, I wonder if Boehner and Cantor are somewhere on a FL golf course, bawling into their Merlots with whiskey chasers, wishing like hell they’d stood up against all the birther madness. If, instead of elbowing each other in the ribs while snickering like school boys with a Playboy, they’d acted like adults and dropped the hammer on this talk, Trump probably wouldn’t even be in the race. The establishment has no one to blame but themselves.
There are several areas where our US Constitution needs to be amended and brought into the 21st century and defining today’s naturalized citizen for the office of President is one of them.
According the Donald: Cruz should not be qualified to run for the White House…Trump is right when he says Muslims will figure this out and start having babies with one American spouse so they can take the White House in the future. Both parents must be American citizens and you must be born on US soil - period.
As for gun rights: Time to define guns beyond black powder muskets and time to define a “well regulated militia” as the National Guard! That way even Scalia and Roberts will get it.
Trump should try to invalidate Cruz on the more believable grounds of Cruz being a sociopath.
However, that line of argument would also bode ill for Donald.
Invalidate? In the primary, that’s what’s known as a positive.
My bad… being around too many logical people…Mea culpa
No sweat, figuring these guys out is like flying a plane with the controls reversed.
Trump is not an idiot. He just sounds like one, but that’s on purpose. He’s a talented, sleazy salesman who reads the cues extremely well and crafts pointed commentary in idiot language. He can corral the media because they’re out for novelty and sensationalism, not news. They are made for each other.
The MSM is really falling down on the job for not telling us this before. Cruz has had his 5 minutes of fame, and they are now officially past history.
He’s a talented, sleazy salesman who reads the cues extremely well and crafts pointed commentary in idiot language.
Absolutely. And, in addition to that, since he’s not a politician, he doesn’t have the typical hesitation of “going there” and getting negative feedback from the GOP. He can be conservative or liberal or … whatever you want him to be if you’ll vote for him. He’s in the Rump Party. That’s it.
A well regulated militia keeps its weapons in an armory.
I haven’t seen his birth certificate or even his certificate of live birth, so I’m not ready to make a conclusion about his racial make up. I suspect he is the original member of a new race.
Only in Quebec. Cruz is from Alberta and they don’t`eat fries with gravy there.
Well, the word “idiot” isn’t clearly defined as we use it, and the situation with Trump is I think a bit ambiguous. So I’m not arguing with what you’re saying exactly, because I don’t myself think either Trump or Palin are subnormal in intelligence (but not far above either). But both are fundamentally ignorant, superficial thinkers who make their way despite that with a cunning sense of what people want and how the situation of the moment can be exploited. Both of them are ambitious—and both are screwups. They talk nonsense constantly; they’re not capable of not talking nonsense consistently over time. You take Cruz, let’s say he had a come-to-Jesus moment, renounced all the crazy ideology and decided to just do corporate law. He’d do just fine. Tom Cotton, another crazy ideologue, he could pull himself together and make a living, be a constructive person. Whatever else you say, they’re intelligent and disciplined. I don’t think Palin or Trump have the emotional or intellectual chops to do any of that. They’re lazy, undisciplined, ignorant, and fundamentally silly people—idiots, in a word. They have talents that help them make their way in the world, get money and notoriety. But they’re still idiots IMHO.
Its funny how the term ‘concern-trolling’ has taken over the more familiar term of passive-aggressive behavior. tRump is a not only a narcissist, he’s also a passive-aggressive jackass that gets others to go after his rivals whenever possible. Some people admire that about him. I find that kind of behavior deplorable.
Sounds good to me. The two of them are certainly a phenomenon in American politics. Clever but not smart. Good instincts, like a dog that sniffs around to find the best place to shit. It doesn’t take intelligence, it takes a type of visceral sixth sense.
Trump may not have made as much money as he might have with conventional investments, but I believe his goal is self-aggrandizement. Making money is just part of it - getting famous and being loved (even if he has to lie about it) are far more important, it seems. Look how he fell for Putin’s hilariously false praise. That’s his vulnerability. I still think his bubble will be popped by a competent campaigner like Hillary.
He gets away with gangsterism, and all the rest, because the party fear him, like they fear every damn thing. Their motto should be, “We Live in Fear”
certainly is a case of “takes one to know one”, or maybe even “skunk smells his own scent first”… or something like that…
no, there’s more than one bozo on that bus…
Strictly speaking that is not true, fries with gravy is pretty popular in the Maritimes and BC, the Quebecois addition of cheese curds is a different matter…
And having visited the Rockies last year, I can assure you that poutine is a very common item on the menu…
I’m talking “smart” as in “good at employing strategy.” In the run up to the primaries, it’s vital that you pander to the base and get them to consolidate around you. He’s playing that game well, and he’s doing it in such a way that’s leaving everyone else baffled.
It might just be that he’s got really good people behind the scenes.
While I have no respect at all for Trump’s proposed policies, I can’t help but admire the way he’s playing the game.
