Just ask him how great he is, and his you’ll never hear the end of it. Trump is the worst of aristocracy, the spoiled, ill-mannered brat fed with a silver spoon and matriculated at posh and private schools where his elitist status secured favoritism, and cultured his intensely egocentric and wealth-driven view of the world. In his world, there is only Trump and his billions. All the rest are little people, and trifling details like political correctness are futile and signs of weakness. However, this misadventure into P.O.W. bashing may not even be the bottom of the barrel for Trump. The best part is that nobody has to hand Trump a shovel–he never stops digging.
This is so disappointing – but not surprising. I was just starting to warm up to Trump a little bit after how decent he was during the Lawrence O’Donnell dustup. Now maybe I have to change my mind again. I expect this will happen a dozen or two times before he drops out of the race.
I have heard McCain use this same line before in a self-deprecating manner – but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea for anyone else to say it.
Check this out (it is a tiny bit of a long list of McCain’s votes that did NOT support veterans:
“Veterans Groups Give McCain Failing Grades. In its most recent legislative ratings, the non-partisan Disabled American Veterans gave Sen. McCain a 20 percent rating for his voting record on veterans’ issues. Similarly, the non-partisan Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America gave McCain a “D” grade for his poor voting record on veterans’ issues, including McCain’s votes against additional body armor for troops in combat and additional funding for PTSD and TBI screening and treatment.
McCain Voted Against Increased Funding for Veterans’ Health Care. Although McCain told voters at a campaign rally that improving veterans’ health care was his top domestic priority, he voted against increasing funding for veterans’ health care in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. (Greenville News, 12/12/2007; S.Amdt. 2745 to S.C.R. 95, Vote 40, 3/10/04; Senate S.C.R. 18, Vote 55, 3/16/05; S.Amdt. 3007 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 41, 3/14/06; H.R. 1591, Vote 126, 3/29/07)”
I’m looking now, but McCain attacked the 527 group attached to those ads.
It is interesting to see so many Republicans coming out to defend McCain when they couldn’t be bothered when it was Mexicans. I doubt if that discrepancy goes unnoticed by Hispanics.
Trump should go with the “McCain is a warmonger” meme, it would get more support.
Come on, make your political attacks be accurate at least. Trump is an unfiltered narcissist for sure, and I could never support him, but he isn’t exactly Hitler. This is a self-deprecating remark that McCain has used in the past – Trump was just being his usual tactless self for repeating it.
Let it be known that your *itler reference was the first in this string. Hyping much?
He’s just following the model I described in another post… As someone running for President, his default answer to any criticism is: “I don’t like them, never did. I make more money than them, always did. I’m #1, you’re a loser”.
Clearly for Trump, McCain is a loser because he was captured.
On a more serious note in an f-ing ridiculous situation… I think Trump wants out and he can’t exit because he is #1 in polls. He is going to say more and more bat-shit crazy things until he drops from the top of the polls.
He will then pull out saying “I spoke the truth, you can’t handle the truth, you don’t deserve me as a President. America, you are fired!”.
Pass the popcorn.
Praps I shoulda inserted the words “when politically convenient” at the end of that sentence in my post… Instead of editing that post I’m gonna leave it as is so that it reminds me to do due diligence.
The man got tortured for America, for chrissakes.
Fuck you Trump, you piece of shit. You just lost practically all of the older age group for that.
I like my kettle corn-style.
Butter…lots of butter on my pop corn.
This is a self-deprecating remark that McCain has used in the past – Trump was just being his usual tactless self for repeating it.
Trump jumped the shark by his follow-up statement “I like people who weren’t captured.”.
Its one thing to say, yeah just because you were captured doesn’t make you a ‘hero’. But then to utter the next line, that’s just pure asinine. Trump wants out, he’s trying to sabotage himself.
Trump…did not serve because he "was not a big fan of the Vietnam war.
In other words, The Donald ain’t doing anything where he might actually have to lay his ass on the line.
Well you know, you can’t just declare a strategic bankruptcy and walk away if you don’t like how a war is going.
What an idiot! “McCain is a war hero because he was captured?” … it was a bit more than that …
McCain was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam for five and a half years. I am not a McCain fan - but for heaven’s sake - respect the injuries and torture that the man endured and the five an a half years that were spent in a primitive cell.
“Bullies have no shame in what they do. In fact, bullies get a natural high from bullying individuals at any time, any place, and in any type of public settings. Bullies love to be the center of attention. The bigger the crowd the better.”

Thank you for the link. I truly appreciate it.
I read it and would say that while McCain said all the right things, he could have and should have done a hell of a lot more. For example, the article states he was Chairman of the Bush campaign in the state of Arizona. Honestly, I think he should have resigned forthwith. I would also note that the Bush White House refused to distance themselves from these slanderous attacks on Kerry’s character. Speaks volumes as to their own character.
Why not just quit then? Why go thru all the public anguish?
No I think the man has no sense at all.
