Congressional term limits make sense in our era of gerrymandered safe seats. I think Iâm going to vomit since I agree with Trump.
Ah, your full support. Wow. Strong (or powerful). That full support and two bucks gets a man his morning covfefe. Poor dotard struggled mightily (well, his party did) to get a fucking tax cut passed, so this sounds like a slam dunk.
Who knew Constitutional amendments could be so complicated?
Always the frontman, the limelight. I know Trump doesnât read, but canât he get William Burroughs on Audible or have Sarah read to him?
Pressed for reasons he supports term limits, Trump stated âExtra Crispy takes too long and theyâre always out of thighs. The gravy is pretty good but I wish theyâd get the lumps out of the potatoes.â
Sure. How about term limits for Federal Judges, too.?
an idea that has been considered by Republicans for years but never garnered enough congressional support to be executed.
And Never will
Ever
Once they have sidled up to the gravy trough ⌠They are hooked
There are congressional term limits. They are called elections.
(Norman) Ornstein: Let me talk for a minute about term limits. It relates to a broader problem in the society, which is this yearning [to] purge the system of politicians. To use the old joke, if the framers were alive today and heard that, theyâd be rolling in their graves. They were politicians. They understood that you want people who respect the institutions that are political institutions, who work within a set of rules and boundaries that are the regular order.
Youâve got to understand other peopleâs points of view, put yourselves in their shoes. The idea in this extended republic was [that] you were going to bring people together; they would see each other, talk to each other, understand each other and then work together, and even if they didnât agree on things, they would come together enough, and discuss and deliberate enough, that people would believe the legitimacy of the decisions that were made. Term limits work against that at every level. You donât bring in the kinds of people who have commitment to institutions or longer-term things.

Term limits are âfolk theory of democracyâ bullshit.
Living in Missouri where we have term limits this is a bad move. Having a limited time in office to make connections on the grifter welfare train leaves little room for any governing. Every single Republican has to bow down to the instate money men, and when you donât then you get the outside dark money men, this is how we ended up with Greitens.
Short answer: nope
While the system is broke, term limits wonât fix it.
Donnie âfully supportsâ many things until he doesnât. Damned fool!
Donny probably thinks, as he always does, in terms of fairness: fair or unfair. As the president, he is term limited, but Senators and Congressmen are not. Hence, this disparity is personally âunfair!â to him. I think his support for congressional term limits is just that simple.
As has been discovered in California, when you have term limits, which is to say a frequent turnover of elected officials in the legislature, ultimately all with minimal experience, they do not have time to learn how the government is supposed to work, much less how to write a coherent, effective, and beneficial bill. Because each newly elected official hires his/her own staff, they are often times in the same predicament. Witness, for example, the inability of Trump to maintain a competent staff to support him. 49% have turned over in the first 15 months and most of his executive orders have (thankfully) been quashed by the courts.
So what happens? Legislation starts being written by lobbyists, with few in the legislature having enough savvy to recognize the prejudice inherent in such legislation. We already see this way far too frequently under the current condition. Add term limits and the problem will explode.
This is the Koch Bros, Enfeeble The Constitution,. Enfeeble The People, Mark Levin Constitutional Amendment BS with thatâs been around for a few years. And it is pure, totally totally totally Sean Hannity at work. Book that!
They should do away congressional term limits and do away with partisan gerrymanderingâŚa girl can dream canât she
I think 45th presidents should be limited to a single, one-year term. Can we get that bill passed, at least?
You can certainly dream, but remember that it is the states that determine the electoral districts. Gerrymandering will never end until we have a set of national standards that would circumvent partisan redistricting, gerrymandering.
I may never get used to how playactingly childish he sounds when what he wants is to sound very presidential. âI gave them my full support and endorsement.â It sounds exactly like when children pretend to be adults, lowering their voices, frowning, adorably mock-serious. Thatâs exactly what heâs doing, except heâs 71 and technically is the President of the United States.
Of course tRump is in favor of term limits. They are anti-democratic.
When Trump becomes President for Life we will not need term limits.
He will simply fire those who disagree with him.
