If he was really holding a gun to his own head and involved in domestic abuse, bailing him out will just be the beginning of dealing with his problems. I have to say, too, I doubt the timing of his meltdown was entirely coincidental. Her political career has clearly been awful for her family, and with the threat of it firing back up again, on some level sabotage could have been an unconscious factor for him.
