Once again, Trump gets tossed something he could actually use and rejects it. You get part of the DNC playbook but, like the German High Command on D-Day, still think the invasion will be at the Pas de Calais.

No predictions, but just a possible scenario based on what Iâve been reading: There wonât be a huge spectacular crackup. Itâll be more like Donald is in a hall, ranting on and on, increasingly divorced from reality. The crowd will slowly filter away, more and more disturbed, disgusted, and filled with pity for a pathetically ill man and horror at seeing a mental disorder leave a person lost in his own fantasy world. Metaphorically heâll be there in the hall, alone, still ranting after theyâve turned off the lights. The GOP wonât replace him, or even formally renounce him, but theyâll just go through the motions of running a Presidential campaign, leaving him and his people on their own, for the most part. Heâll be crushed electorally, and so will the GOP. But theyâll avoid riots at the convention or an ongoing civil war, and after the election they can try to pick up the pieces and figure out whatâs next.
Iâd certainly envisioned a more flagrant breakdown, and that may happen after the election. But this guyâs mind is so fortified against reality that maybe it wonât happen, or maybe it happens after the election, out of the public eye. Just what Iâm imagining lately; take it for what you will.

In his mind, there will â there must â be a day when Putin will be standing behind him on the podium with a blank expression, tie askew and magically fatter than the Donald, while Trump makes jokes about what a mess Russia is.

He has quite a bit of money. Even with $150-200 million, you can keep yourself in quite a bubble. Especially if you own highly leveraged properties that you tell yourself are yours.
