The media is much more truthful than Trump and Trump, Inc.
John Kelly was despicable long before he took the job of COS. But now, he looks stupid, too, and no fawning over him by the media is going to keep him from looking incompetent, because the only way to control Trump is to lock him in a room with a television, phone, windows, or a mirror.
Having now read the SI article (and it gives a very interesting look and some insight into Trump, as SI tends to do), and reading the context of the āitās a dumpā comment when speaking to members of the club who he enjoys schmoozing with, I think Trump should have gone with āI was jokingā rather than āTotally untrue.ā
I think Trumpās denial shows that even he can be embarrassed by his own big, undisciplined mouth. Not often enough, though, to learn from it.
Thatās the problem for PP. Whether theyāre capable of being honest and adult enough to admit it, even his most ardent supporters know he said it. Itās the kind of trashy, classless, clueless thing that a man who decorates his home like this would say.
āPlease officer I didnāt think I was going that fastā
Works for me every time
I miss President Barack Obama every single day.
That seems to be the fall back position for every Alzheimerās related tweet and pronouncement from the doddering old fool.
It was a joke
Ya a cruel joke played on the American People
Thanks Faux, Thanks morons , Thanks Russia
In general Iād agree with that - and for most people/politicians not just trump. But, there are two important caveats:
- itās not true of media sources, particularly anonymous sources. Either because the sources could have a vested interest in lying, or misheard, or heard second or third hand etc
- Journalists themselves often get wrong end of stick, misunderstanding or misinterpreting whatās been said, taking things out of context etc.
So while I think journalists are by and large quite truthful, the things they report are not necessarily remotely truthful. Particularly when you overlay natural bias.
I donāt know if you have any areas of technical expertise, but whenever thereās a news report on something within my fields of particular expertise, they get it wrong 9 times out of 10.
too easy
In this instance you needed to read down just a bit further:

Yes: Hereās [Politicoās reporting on this]ā11
āAlan Shipnuck, who reported the 7,424-word story, defended his work in a podcast on Wednesday. Shipnuck said he had an āenlighteningā conversation with White House aide Hope Hicks, who demanded a retractionā¦undefined> āI explained to her: Itās not a lie. The president said this in front of eight or nine members and staffers at Bedminster,ā he said, calling it a āmoment of candorā for the president. āThe week of the U.S. Womenās Open, I heard the same story told by two or three different other sources. This is certainly a moment that has already passed into legend at Trump Bedminster. It might be inconvenient for her boss and she might wish he didnāt say, but itās not a lie.ā11ā
Counting the number of people who say they heard Trump call the White House a dump is not a matter of technical expertise.
Two things spring to mind without even trying:
First, after Trumpās tweet about Comey (āhe should hope itās not on tapeā) led Comey to put his memos into play, leading to the appointment of Mueller and all thatās followed, that there is a tape of Trump dumping on the dump would be the height of irony, wouldnāt it?
But second, at this point, other than the hard core Repub base lost in the entrails of Fox News, is there anyone who believes anything this guy says?
Or Tom Priceās defense of his assertion that the last gasp Senate plans would increase coverage and lower cost, āthatās what I believe.ā
Donāt you mean John Miller? aka John Baron? Trampās alter egos who used to give PR interviews?
Jim is Trampās mythical playmate who no longer goes to Paris because, um, itās a dumpā¦
I think his reason for going to his own properties has a much more simpler explanation and perhaps darker agenda, that fits entirely with his modus operandi since the beginning.
In part, its about golfing and just blowing off work because quite simply, heās lazier than shitā¦More importantly, its that there is intentionally less oversight of the comings and goings of private meetings with wealthy elites, business leaders, political interlocutors and foreign influence peddlers.
It has been nearly impossible to scrutinize what happens at his private properties, as heās afforded security protections but handpicks who attends many of those private meetings, and accompanies him on those trips. There are no announcements of his meetings with various people, as has always been the case, as they were always made public by press releases in advance with most other Presidents. There is also a lock-out of the press on many of those trips as well, where some of them do accompany him, but they are generally kept in the dark, like being confined to a place where access is essentially unattainable.
There also seems to be a lack of open and available record-keeping accounting for his time in those venues, which then leads to incomplete logs available to the National Archive, tasked with acquiring all documents under the Presidential Records Act passed by Congress, when his tenure is up. And letās not even bother to consider the vetting process for who gets to see tRump at his properties trying to bend his ear.
I doubt memos had anything whatsoever to do with appointment of mueller, not least because Comey had already put them into play beforehand and also because they were already available to the FBI. So although it doesnāt really affect your point, I think the premise is wrong.
What releasing the memos has done is open Comey to allegations of leaking classified information, which may well come back to bite. I suspect the more we learn about this guy the less will be thought of him. Has all the hallmarks of power having gone to his head
I hope so but I fear that even if it were, Sara Hucksterbee would just say he was joking.
Meanwhile Kathy Griffith makes a stupid joke and she is ostracized.
Iāve grown somewhat nostalgic for āthe tweet speaks for itselfā and āthe president has been clearā¦ā
Weāre so far thru the Looking Glass that Spicey is just a speed bump in the rear view mirror.
Obama was like any other relationship. You get 8 years of mostly harmonious stability, then run off with a lying, drug addled pole dancer. Weāve all been there.
I think you need to re-read that quote. Was it 8 or 9? was it two or three? Why doesnāt he know how many sources he has? Were all the people he spoke to there, or are perhaps some of them relaying what theyāve heard someone else say? He said āitās passed into legendā, which makes me very suspicious he didnāt hear from primary sources, and story no doubt has āevolvedā. Sounds very Chinese whispers. If he did say it, was he jokingly justifying spending time at golf course, what was context?
All of these questions are as unimportant as the story itself, but this is not cut and dry as you suggest.
