Discussion: Trump Defends Russia: ‘I’m Not Pro-Russia,’ But They Did Help Us Win Wars

Trump is so stupid that he would flunk out of Trump University and get a full refund.

oh mein Got his stupidity is exhausing. Between ‘So many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in Helsinki’ and ’ And in World War II, Russia lost 50 million people and helped us win the war. I was saying to myself the other day, you know, Russia really helped us. I’m not pro-Russia, pro-anybody, I just want to have this country be safe’ . I need a fucking drink.

He really is the dumbest fucking man to hold high office. Anywhere. At anytime in history
Neurosyphilitic Mao was more coherent and intelligent. And less embarrasing.
sigh.

not pro russia, per se, but pro putin, as he’s the one who’s able to get you trump tower moscow, and many more properties… it’s all about self enrichment, and, apparently, appeasement (if not outright fellatio) of putin.

“You look at World War I and World War II, there was Germany. And in World War II, Russia lost 50 million people and helped us win the war. I was saying to myself the other day, you know, Russia really helped us. I’m not pro-Russia, pro-anybody, I just want to have this country be safe, I don’t want nuclear weapons– even people thinking about it.”

dammit, I’m out of sodas.”

He doesn’t know about our involvement in the Russian Revolution, so its all ‘good’.

“Not pro anybody”

This, a man who never ever needed an ally in his business career. No bank loan, no backer, nobody.
He’s not even a decent bullshitter in addition to a really lousey liar.
The man is fucking hopeless. This is what deliberate ignorance looks like. And this kind of willful and deliberate ignorance is something i saw in my teaching of medical students several times and i hated it.

Now he has historians as well as rhetoricians pounding their heads on walls.
And is anyone else wondering how Russia will like being characterized as one of the helpers in WWII? My guess is that they think it was an alliance or something like that.

Hopefully, out of this incompetence, those that count on the right will see and understand the malignancy that is trump.

And you’re not even exaggerating one iota.

I would love nothing better than to see democracy break out in Russia and to see them adopt the rule of law. The world would be a much safer place if they were more like Great Britain, France or Germany. They have wonderful people who have not been able to share in the blessings of the great wealth of their country.

The tragedy is Trump is moving us ever closer to being a western hemisphere version of Russia not the other way around.

There is no bottom to Trumps stupidity. None.

Just for the record, the old Soviet Union lost about 33 million in WWII of those 11 million were soldiers. The United States lost something around 400,000 military killed. The bulk of the fighting was in Eastern Europe. From the perspective of soldiers lost it is fair to say we helped the Soviet’s win, not the other way around.

The truth is a lot more complicated than that. The Russians might have been overrun if it hadn’t been for the material support the US provided. Strategic bombing of Germany hampered their efforts in the East as well as in the West. It took the combined efforts of the USSR, Great Britain and the US to defeat the Axis.

There were between 50 million and 80 million casualties in World War II world wide, depending on how you count them.

“You look at the deception, the lies and what’s gone on in the last fairly long period of time– before I won. Long before I won, I mean during the campaign I guess probably during the Republican, when I was fighting against 17 other Republicans — this has been going on for a long time,” he continued, repeating a darling, but tired talking point. “But these are people, in my opinion are truly bad people. They are being exposed for what they are and it’s a shame that it has to happen, but it’s really hurt our country.”

Wha?

Trump. “We met with the queen, who is absolutely a terrific person, where she reviewed her Honour Guard for the first time in 70 years, they tell me. We walked in front of the Honour Guard and that was very inspiring to see and be with her. And I think the relationship, I can truly say is a good one. But she was very, very inspiring indeed.”

Reality: The Queen actually inspects her Honour Guard many times a year and does so for important events such as visiting heads of state.

Of the president’s claims, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Independent: “This is obviously total fiction.

“It is customary for the Queen together with all visiting heads of state to inspect a Guard of Honour from the Household Division either on Horse Guards or in the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle when they are on state visits," he said.
