Agreed, but substantive differences are what makes the world go round and it is their jobs to point out how they would govern since that is what they will be doing if elected.
It bugs me to no end that newbies come late to the stage to talk in platitudes about ‘things’ with which they have not a clue how to address. ‘Things’ have details and details are what candidates need in order to address the ‘things’ that they speak of. If a candidate wants to ‘take us back’ the question is back to when. Same with ‘giving the country back’. Back to whom? All the white people?
And when we are supposed to ‘start a revolution’ aren’t we entitled to an explanation as to what to expect at the beginning, middle, and end of this revolution?
Details… we should be swimming in details about the next revolution. Instead it’s just talk.
Cruz will tell voters that Trump is dropping out due to some issue with his hair plugs. And their voting base will all believe it because…they don’t need a reason any longer.

“Insults” and “sharp criticism” can be seen and heard subjectively. I think we saw something in the “heated rhetoric” category recently between Clinton and Sanders, and I believe it’s been respectful and substantive. This cannot be said of most of the R contestants who unfortunately are taking the lead from Trumpf. He’s vulgar, crude and insulting while offering nothing of substance, so they’ve given themselves permission to do the same.
Whoever Rump faces off against in the final round before he becomes the nominee will find themselves in the middle of one of those ancient Coliseum blood fests where there’s just one man standing and the rest are hacked to pieces.
Well, he’s certainly figured out that violating norms helps him. And he’s not a half-measures guy; subtlety, balance, and restraint are not in his skill set. When it comes to what he will and won’t do, he would surprise me if he surprised me.
