Honestly it’s a shame he couldn’t figure out how to make money owning casinos, because the cheesy faux-“classy” atmosphere designed to impress the unsophisticated was his natural environment, matching as it did the inside of his skull.

a casino has no product to manufacture, package and ship. People walk in and leave money. The games and machines are calibrated to keep a good percentage of every day’s wagers. The casino is not gambling. It takes a special kind of owner to bankrupt a casino.

I actually don’t mind the day of mourning since the deceased was a former president. I am, however, sick of the tributes that attempt to paint Bush Sr. as an “everyman.” Give him credit for what he may have achieved on foreign policy or even for being a civil person, but he was a patrician elitist who expected legacy benefits for his sons, endorsed the Willie Horton approach to politics, and issued plenty of pardons for the Iran-Contra scandal.

Well, that was my point. 
Genius businessman couldn’t stay solvent when he had a license to steal. He’s going to lose his presidency the same way he lost everything else in his idiot life—he uses overleveraging to get everything, borrows to the hilt because he can’t negotiate and has to overpay, and then he can’t make the nut.
