Yeah, I had this conversation with a number of people before the election, people who said that the country was just “in a mess.” I challenged each of them to provide some examples of the “mess” we were in, and got nothing back but crickets chirping. By every objective measure, the country was in better shape than it had been in decades - wider access to health care, lower unemployment, lower crime rate, tame inflation, rising stock market, fewer troops in harm’s way, no significant enemies (remember the USSR?), declining deficits, etc., etc.
With a non-obstructionist legislature, things could have been even better - just imagine the economic boom that would have been created by pouring money into infrastructure, for example.
But the credulons still believe the big lie.
