Ken Burns’ take down of Hair Furor’ Trump was just epic. It came from the normally mild mannered Burns, who prefaced it by saying he always tried to stay away from commenting on national political figures to avoid partisanship which, he felt, lessened his works. BUT…he said, he could stay silent no longer about Donald Trump, and in his commencement speech at Stanford today, he WAS silent no longer.:
Excerpts from HuffPo: Worth a second look!

“There comes a time when I and you can no longer remain neutral, silent — we must speak up and speak out,” said Burns, who is known for historical documentaries. “For 216 years, our elections — though bitterly contested — have featured the philosophies and characters of candidates who were clearly qualified.”“That is not the case this year,” he said, to a round of applause.

“He is an insult to our history,” Burns said. A moment later, he implored: “Do not be deceived by his momentary good behavior. It is only a spoiled, misbehaving child hoping somehow to still have dessert.”
Burns described the candidate as one who “is against lots of things but doesn’t seem to be for anything,” offers “bombastic and contradictory promises,” is a “terrifying Orwellian statesman,” “insults veterans, threatens a free press, mocks the handicapped, denigrates women, immigrants and Muslims.”Burns reminded the audience that Trump avoided several chances to disavow David Duke, an advocate for white supremacy and former Ku Klux Klan leader.Trump is “a person who easily lies,” he continued; “who creates an environment where the truth doesn’t seem to matter, who has never demonstrated any interest in anyone or anything but himself and his own enrichment.” He is “an infantile, bullying man, who depending on his mood is willing to discard old and established alliances, treaties and long-standing relationships,” Burns said. His candidacy “is a political Ponzi scheme.”

Here is a video of the Trump section of the address. It’s well worth a look!

Meanwhile, G.O.P. leaders who are still counting on Trump being able to moderate his rhetoric, as he heads into the general election, are once again soiling themselves and having full-blown panic attacks. Trump can’t control himself, and he certainly won’t listen to anyone else.

Few help the terrorists’ cause more than Drumpf.

And if you think that a person on the no-fly list should be able to buy a gun, you support terrorists.

Trump, who will give speech on his anti-terror proposals Monday, also said the US should launch a military response overseas in response to the Orlando attack.

This man is so full of himself. Exactly where would you have us start a new war, Trump? Omar was from New York! Now, if you are proposing we bomb Trump Tower and other Trump assets, well, then I’m all for that!

Who exactly should we bomb in retaliation, Trump? NY where the shooter came from? All mosques and churches that preach hate toward homosexuals? Some little village in Pakistan?

Just trying to figure out what this evil fucking fascist thinks should feel the brunt of his retaliation…

Then there are some like Trump who are just sick.

I have to agree with both you and Josh about the political fallout. Paris may have helped Trump in the primaries, but the audience and adversaries were different. We’ll see what the polls say but I don’t think most Americans want their leaders to react to something like this with preening hysteria.

“We have to be extremely strong,” the presumptive GOP nominee said. “We have to be very strong in terms of looking at the mosques.

So glaube ich heute im Sinne des allmächtigen Schöpfers zu handeln: Indem ich mich des Juden erwehre, kämpfe ich für das Werk des Herrn.
[Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator; by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord.]
