Blech
Not quite the same. Trumpâs pursuit only annoyed Diana, while Trumpâs sabotaging of the ACA will harm tens of millions.
Trump and Congressional Ds canât make any sort of deals that make any sort of practical difference without the R Congressional leadership. However much of a majority, made up of Ds and moderate Rs, there might be in Congress for some reasonable bill on health care financing, nothing gets to the floor to get voted on without the approval of the R leadership.
If Trump wants something reasonable on health care financing, he needs to make a deal with the Congressional R leadership. Not only can he offer a promise on what he will sign, he can offer to protect the leadership, and the moderate Rs who will be needed to vote for anything reasonable, from the partyâs crazies. Thatâs the only sort of deal that lets anything reasonable get done on health care financing.
About fifteen years ago, Mrs Strad and I made a trip through the midwest. Our routing took us through Memphis after Little Rock. While we were seeing the Triple-wide Over the Ark R we decided we had time and we ought to hit Graceland. Weâre glad we did, but there is no reason to ever go back.
The Beale Street Cafe, however â when I go through Memphis again Iâll be back.
I found the index card Schumer brought to the KFC they met at. The talking points were all Trump quotes.
- âWeâre going to have insurance for everybody.â ~ 1/15/17
- âEverybodyâs got to be covered. Iâm going to take care of everybody.â ~ 9/27/15
- âThe new plan is good. Itâs going to be inexpensive. Itâs going to be much better for the people at the bottom; people that donât have any moneyâ. ~ 2/18/16
- âYouâre going to end up with great healthcare for a fraction of the price. And thatâs going to take place immediately.â ~ 2/19/16
- âI was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. Huckabee copied me.â ~5/7/15
- âyou have better healthcare than we do.â to Australiaâs Prime Minister ~ 5/04/17
- From his book, The America We Deserve: âWe must not allow citizens with medical problems to go untreated because of financial problems or red tape.â
Are we sure Trump wasnât in the paparazziâs car chasing Diana and Dodi?
I see your point. I think thereâs reason to believe he may have trouble getting it done, but even if resources are wasted stopping it, and ANY number of people are hurt, itâs more serious than his pursuit of Diana.
Did the same thing a couple of years ago, and Iâm glad a saw it but for me it was time capsule of time gone bye.
Iâm partial to âVelvet Elvisâ meets Jesus mâself. Makes me tear up a little.
That is tacky in uncountably many waysâŚ
What is your definition of the Midwest?
Pretty broad â from Oklahoma to 49 N, Appalachians to more-or-less the front range of the Rockies. Memphis was as far south as we got. We were mostly in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Illinois.
speaking of Illinois
Didnât Trump notice any disconnect between his taking away birth control access for women and then expecting the Dems to work with him on healthcare???
While thatâs true, I also think thereâs a third option. PP works out a deal with Chuck and Nancy, Republican leadership refuses to bring it to the floor, and then PP repeatedly savages them on social media and in the press. This would give Democrats something to run on in the short term, to have actual legislation that will address the problems with Oâcare without undoing the whole system. It would also further alienate Republicans from their president and make it harder to pass things like tax reform.
It sounded like he was working on âWe love Puerco Cheeto.â Itâs always about him, 24/7.
I expect he kept on topic for five minutes before going on a fifty minute rant about the NFL, the NRA, and his electoral win.
