Discussion: Trump Brags About Not Knowing US Anti-IS Coalition Envoy, Who Resigned In Protest

And that takes us back to yesterday’s discussion of the three networks … . If these people were just watching Walter Cronkite (and/or others), what would they think? It’s moot of course, but so many of them long for the good old days, it’s quite ironic. BTW, I do hate referring to “these people” in a lump …

WE?

When has Trump ever served in Syria?

Of course. But you can’t talk about differences in attitudes among various groups without generalizing to an extent. Levels of abstraction, all that. I don’t want to defend all their attitudes so much as try to understand as a prelude to some form of communication, reconciliation. The other day I saw a comparison between the polarization we have now and the way Northern Ireland was years ago. I’m pretty enraged that they gave us Trump, but we’re stuck with each other and might as well figure out some modus vivendi.

Yes, this “WE” must make service members livid. At least it should.

Especially in the Trump era. The ambiguities are no longer present, the fine lines have all been crossed and the boundaries are well-defined.

When “these people” enthusiastically live up to their worst stereotypes, there’s not much choice but to judge them by it. From what i see right now in Kansas, the most-guilty ones we speak of are stubbornly proud of their dysfunction. They take our criticism and wear it like a badge of courage, even as they immerse themselves in their ignorance, like some Trump Cult membership qualification.

trump seems to think that if he declares he doesn’t know someone, it automatically means they’re unimportant. Instead, every rational person sees that it illustrates yet again how ignorant and foolish trump is.

So when he wants to discredit someone, he clams not to know them, whether or not it’s true. Truth has no value for him, but punching down is something that gives him pleasure.

He’ll never understand this because he’s a narcissist. If it’s not in his tiny unexpandable world of knowledge, it’s invisible and useless. Whatever he blurts out in the moment, he knows his cult will immediately chant in unison, and it enters the circular feedback loop of Fox&Fools <=> White House.

At the risk of feeling like I’m monopolizing the thread here (as well as being redundant), it again comes back to Fox. The less they work, the more time on their hands to watch television, and the cycle just keeps going. I don’t mean to be bleak, but in dog park conversations (one of the last refuges where we all gather regardless of whatever) so many are ADAMANT that they are right, will not listen to any reasonable, respectful argument, etc. I think I’ve recounted here my discussion with a very nice guy who insisted that his beloved ACA was absolutely not Obamacare. And I’m in Richmond, VA (transplant from central PA, BTW), not a small town.

How do you artificially shore up dying towns and rural areas? It can’t ever last unless it’s real. Either there are real reasons for the towns to exist or you make something up to try to keep it going on life support.

And there are millions of small towns in this country. Lots of them sprang up for reasons that no longer exist =- like the railroads.
At some point people’s intransigence about this has to be addressed. I’d love to have lived during my working years in some places where jobs are nonexistent but I couldn’t - I had to work.

Sponsor immigrant families who want to come here and live safely in small-town and rural America…
otherwise, it is all EXODUS, if they want a thriving rural America, they’d better loosen up on the xenophobia.

This “unknown” person, along with COS Mattis, were merely keeping the Middle East from devolving into WWIII. No great loss for DOTUS who just needed to start another dumpster fire to cover up his 19th bad news story of the week.

I’m not so sure he’s lying. The child is a complete ignorant fuck!

Now that is a GREAT IDEA. And it’s being done in Georgia of all places. A small town there has taken in tens of thousands of refugees and that has drawn other people to live there. Let me see if I can find the story - someone posted about 3 weeks ago. I think I have it saved.

Here in NC, there are many rural areas that have been economically depressed for a decade or two. In that time, many immigrants who were once seasonal have become permanent residents and brought their families. Some of these communities are now majority Hispanic, and are bustling little towns with mercados, flea markets, Mexican/South American restaurants, and a slowly growing bilingualism.

Gong through these towns is starting to remind me of visiting Mexico. Fun and exciting. The natives have varying reactions, as expected, but the change is happening whether they like it or not.

And he did remind me that he was perpetually enraged by the horrifying and enduring lie of “liking your doctor and keeping your doctor,” the deplorables’ greatest grievance while they happily enjoy f-ing health insurance.

Remember Dodge City, Kansas. Majority Hispanic. Almost majority immigrant. A single polling place in the entire town. Outside the city limits. A mile from any public transportation. Stupid fucks in power.

But, as long as folk in this country love red meat, that town is growing.
