I find Cruz just about as repulsive as Trump, but I’ve got to side with Cruz on this one. The Goldman loan is a big non-story. First, apparently it was disclosed by Cruz on his Senate ethics disclosure submissions, just not on the disclosure forms for the election. If Cruz were really trying to hide this, he wouldn’t have disclosed anywhere. Second, I read that the loan was against his brokerage account, which basically means that he has sufficient value in the account and simply wanted to borrow against it. Since it’s a Goldman account, it makes sense to borrow from Goldman against it. This is hardly the kind of loan that would create undue influence. Third, it’s very easy for Trump to criticize other candidates for loans and corporate contributions, since he’s self-funding. Unfortunately, the other candidates aren’t in a position to do that.
Cruz is right–he should stick to issues.

But that is not the way the Donald plays. And it will be ironic if Cruz can’t the media to focus away - they taught Fox that (or visa versa) that truth does not matter. Based on Trump’s tweets he’s going for the full domination. Go ahead Ted, try to use logic and reason with your potential voters. They have not been trained that way… I don’t follow this very closely (headlines only usually) but I see what Josh is talking about. Interesting indeed.

Cowboy runs as the anti-Wall Streeter, who finances his campaign by selling and risking all that he and his wife own, just to take on the Big Interests.
I think if his entire campaign premise is based on lies, that needs to be noted.

Easy, for Trump. Cruz is an even bigger prick, and Trump will be easy pickings in the general. Plus, his nomination will neutralize Clinton’s edge in electability, since the Democrats would beat Trump with Noam Chomsky.

There is no way we can let Trump win the general, but out of all the times he has ever angered and repulsed me, I thoroughly enjoyed the moment in the debate when he took that arrogant asshole Cruz down. I’m not a believer, but if there is a God, he sure has a sense of humor.

He was definitely trying to hide it. He was speaking out against big banks, while at the same time getting a huge loan from a bank through his wife, who was a managing director. If that was known while he was running, that hurts his whole rap and could have cost him the election. Cruz was able to get up to 34% by running big time ads about how he hated big banks, keeping Dewhurst at 46% (candidates needed 50% to avoid a runoff, which Cruz won).
Once elected, THEN he disclosed things. Of course at that point it would have been illegal not to. But still, listing a bank loan in an annual Senate ethics report in no way satisfies requirements to disclose that loan to election officials. It was a violation for sure.
Perhaps not illegal, but certainly unethical, and definitely hypocritical. I think that’s a story.

Cruz doesn’t stick to the issues. He creates straw men, attributes them to his political enemies and then fights against his own imaginary creations. He dog-whistles to racists, plays the culture warrior, winks knowingly to armageddonists, and lies through his teeth about stuff that is easily disproved and when caught, lies some more.
