Well if he’s pardoned then wouldn’t he lose his 5th Amendment privilege and be compelled to testify? Which if he lies, he’ll just be back with another set of obstruction charges.
Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort
Wow, what a fucking moron.
You might be a tad generous with the time frame there…
You know what, his opinion that the judge is being “unfair” will have ZERO impact on the prosecution and trial. As usual, we hang on to his every tweet as if it’s not one man’s opinion only. He’s so completely ignorant of the law it’s frightening. And as another poster pointed, out, keep harassing federal judges. They just love that kind of criticism from the peanut gallery.
It really is like our nation is now being led by the world’s dumbest mob boss.
Both Manafort and Trump need to hang upside down like the traitors they are.
But…isn’t the Mob co-chaired by Trump, Manafort and Giuliani?
I did some volunteer work for a campaign, she’s nice enough but doesn’t suffer fools. Yes, she’s had work done and she’s confident enough now to go gray.
But when his people do revolt, it’ll be time to make modifications specifically his tariff policies which are going to affect his farming base, soybean growers, pig farmers, etc. and when they drop away who’ll be left. I hope the vacuum will be filled by Parkland students and their families this fall.
I believe he said he will fight this one, but then his word means nothing.
When you’re right, you’re right.
@occamscoin I seem to remember that PP put up some protests about paying up in the trumpU case brought by Schneiderman in NY but in the end he had to pay $25 million to the plaintiffs (and the plaintiffs got back 90 cents on the dollar and their legals fees were waived, not a bad ending.) So we’re seeing something similar, he’ll holler and scream about no cooperation, his base will say fucking A boss, but he’ll pay and so will the spawn.
will involve the cooperation of Rs no matter if Ds take over the House since it takes a “majority vote” in the House which would be about 217 members. Moreover, a “successful impeachment” will only truly happen if 2/3 of the Senate votes to convict. Bill C. was not convicted by the senate after being impeached by the house, and the senate hated him.
We need to wake up to the limited realities of relying on impeachment and subsequent conviction to get rid of him.
@occamscoin FYI
FTFY…
Apparently the preemptive pardon would save Manafort but it wouldn’t necessarily help Trump.
From Quora:
A presidential pardon, particularly a pre-emptive pardon like the one Ford gave to Nixon, which would prevent future prosecution, would have the same effect. So if the president granted someone such a pardon, and then that person was subpoenaed to testify, they would be in no danger of prosecution, and therefore would not be able to assert their 5th amendment right not to answer a question on the witness stand.
It’s been said that if Trump pardoned Manafort he’d have to pardon the Russian indicted with him.
Wouldn’t you rather enjoy the delirium?
In addition to Trump’s cluelessness regarding simple legal terminology, he also has a curious interpretation of the term “unfair”:
any action or decision made by any entity on the planet which conflicts with his wants and wishes is – by definition – unfair.
I just noticed, fixed it. Makes all the difference in the world doesn’t it. Of such things wars have started.
We got us a Dumbfella.
But now Trump knows. Well, case closed.
Paul Manafort. Mob figure.
