Discussion: Trump Attacks 'Filthy' Restaurant That Refused To Serve His Press Secretary

My first reaction to the Red Hen thing was to laugh and say “good for them!”.

However, after thinking about it, I think it is counter-productive.

What is even more counter-productive is the stuff I have seen (on other boards) dissing Sander’s weight, looks, etc.

This is the sort of stuff that the other side can use to make us all look bad and ironically to make it easier for them to further their sordid agenda.

Reports show Florida health inspectors cited U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort with 15 violations in late January, days before the leader hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for a visit.
[/quote]So, you’re saying Trump knows what he’s talking about. On issues of corruption, bad business practices, not complying with regulations and laws … I suppose he does.

Hey Toddler-in-Chief, good one. Now go fuck yourself sideways with a rusty pitchfork.

One incident makes us look bad, in contrast to the hundreds on the other side?

Sorry. I’m not convinced that the situation is even remotely similar.

If the Right can convince the COURTS that discrimination in service is good, then it’s good for everyone.

I would of course serve her and let the kitchen staff handle it from there.

Unfortunately the MSM would say that dems calling out hypocrisy would be uncivil and an equivalent insult to decency as the Republican action and call it even.

Trump is such a fucking moron. His establishments have been cited for substandard conditions for years, and that is going to be thrown in his face now every time he tries to go after The Red Hen. Actually, I hope The Red Hen uses this to their advantage in their advertising;
“The Red Hen Restaurant: we’re cleaner than any Trump eatery!”
“The Red Hen Restaurant: come to the place that Donald Trump hates!”

Kinda sucks when that whole “sincerely held beliefs” stuff is turned around and bites you in the ass, doesn’t it, Sarah?

Every form of protest can be and has been portrayed by opponents, especially right-wing opponents who skew authoritarian, as wrong and bad. If you don’t refuse service they’ll rage and storm over tan suits. And now it’s highly organized and led from foreign countries and the top echelons here, QED. Let these people be seen as morally unfit to live with decent people, much less govern them. What else gives them fodder? Boycotts? Petitions? Demonstrations? Is there any form of protest they wouldn’t seize on and use to whip up their own base?

Most thinking people would agree with you.

But the MSM likes their false equivalence, give them an inch and they will give Republicans 5 points in opinion polls. After all the GOP has been giving it all away to big business, especially media companies.

You forget its only IOKIYAR.

The finite law of political gravity when the 4th estate is broken.

Oh, and I also hope they sue the fuck out of him for slander. One doesn’t get popularity and a good reputation by running a filthy establishment, and I am sure The Red Hen has the receipts to show it’s been running a clean place forever.
Take the whiny little bitch to court, I say! And also sue him for using the power his office against a place of business. That is against the law, isn’t it?

What is the mental deficiency in this guy that leads him to focus on random details from photos (like the condition of the canopies and doors – not that we even know his tweet has any basis in fact).

And yeah, straightforward tort claim. And likely call logs from the restaurant that can be used to prove damage.

No. But this one makes their job much easier.

I doubt he wrote the tweet although I expect those are his sentiments.

It is drafted in terms of the exterior appearance of the restaurant and an inference drawn therefrom. If the apprearance if the restaurant is as described I’d doubt that the tweet was actionable even though the intent is associate the restaurant with filth which is a libel.

Further, I’d doubt that the restaurant had any damages. I’d bet it is going to have lines out the door for years. I know I’d eat there as often as I could afford under the circumstances.

The worst lie in Trump’s tweet is that Slimey Sarah is a fine person.
