Discussion: Trump Announces US Recognition Of Jerusalem As Israel's Capital

If anyone so much as trips and falls as a result of this, it rests solely with this despicable, unfit, unqualified racist birther asshole.

Has Congress ponied up the money for this, yet? Will the Israelis now demand an additional $3 billion for “security”?

This now creates in intractable problem for the next presidential candidates: “Will you retract this embassy move?”

EVERYTHING THIS SACK OF GARBAGE TOUCHES TURNS TO SHIT.

Gee, wouldn’t be a handy distraction from the Mueller/Deutschbank business would it? It’s certainly not like an active provocation would be really convenient if you needed to get yourself on a war footing post haste.

Does this serve Israel’s interests? Yes. Does this serve the interests of the Palestinians or the wider Arab world? No. Does this serve the interests of peace in the rest of the world? Probably not. Does this serve the interests of the United States? Trump says yes, but I am at a loss to discern what those might be. Does this serve Trump’s narrow political interests? Yes, with certain constituencies only.

Small consolation but he has to do everything he can to ruin the world ASAP because he ain’t going to be around much longer.

Read this letter from Rep. Cummings and then ask yourself, “If Mueller knew about this (which he no doubt did) and let Flynn slide, what does he have on Cockholster, Uday, Jared “Full Metal Jackass” Kushner and Lord knows who else?”

People are currently speculating that he’s huddled in the White House as we speak trying to figure out what to do about his “Mueller problem.”

Make me wonder who’s more fucked right now: the World or the Melon Menace?

This is just another provocation that Trump is using to bring war to the Middle East. Consider that Saudi Arabia is now going full out to oppose Iran, Israel has been send rockets into Syria to keep weapons from Hezbollah, Pompeo to State and Moron Cotton to the CIA. Troops already in Iraq and Syria, as well as many countries in the Middle East and Africa. Israel has been pushing for this confrontation and when Trump was elected they saw there chance to get the Americans to start the war they need to demolish Iran. Anyone want to take bets that we are in another Mid East war in a year?

Nah. We’ll just expand the ones we’ve already got.

As Lawrence Wilkerson has pointed out numerous times: If you think Iraq was a disaster a war with Iran is going to be a thousand times worse.

I don’t agree with Trump’s decision, but a little more perspective, and a little less hysteria might be useful.

I think there’s an enormous - perhaps unconscionable - amount of play acting on all sides. Trump’s announcement may or may not cause violence in the area, but if it does, it’s hardly the only thing to cause violence. Anything - and everything - is a “cause” for violence in that neighborhood.

Even more hilarious - in a macabre sense - is the argument that Trump’s decision will kill the peace process. What peace process? There is a semblance of peace now. Formal peace with Egypt. Formal peace with Jordan. Informal military alliance with Saudi Arabia. Not a formal peace deal with tge Palestinians, but informal understandings with them, including by most Palestinians living in Jerusalem, who may hate Israeli governance, but who loath the PA and fear Hamas.

And then there is the “shock and outrage” of other Arab governments, none of which have done anything for the Palestinians… except to periodically express their “shock and horror” while they oppress their own people and prosecute a religious civil war over the legitimate heir to Mohammad.

Anyone else notice Donnie SEVERELY slurred his words at the end? WTF???

“Healthiest President Ever” my butt, Dr. Boorstein

Yemen was Nasser’s Vietnam, and it will ruin MBS in much the same way. From encouraging the split in the GCC to undermining up the JCPOA, Trump is giving Tehran everything it wants.

@tiowally At this point we’re headed for a region-wide conflict.

I have nothing to add
This isn’t like trying to rid your property of a wasp’s nest by hitting it with a bat. It’s like taking a wasp’s nest out of your neighbor’s yard, carrying it home, and then hitting it with a bat.

My guess is that the Asshole-elect just noticed that Jarhead (his son-in-law) (no offense meant, Marines) wasn’t solving the mid-east thing, so he’s decided to push for another Israeli-Arab war. Oh, well, no big deal.

Just because you see a fuse is no reason to light it, especially if you don’t know what the hell it’s attached to.

I read an interesting thing this morning about how average Israelis are not all that keen on America’s support for the Israeli government. The reason is because the Americans who blindly support it are dead-enders who are trying to bring on the Apocalypse so they can, you know, “meet their maker.” People like Franklin Graham and Pat Robertson et al. Certainly not our best and brightest.

The Dotard just opened a powder keg. We cannot be considered an honest broker in establishing peace in the region. What he read from the teleprompter was way over his head. Seems no world leaders agree with this move and future generations will be paying for this intemperate decision. And I thought Matis, McMasters, and Kelly were supposed to be the grownups in the room.

Lets see what the Saudis have to say to Jared Kushner next time he shows up looking for money to bail himself out of 666 Fifth Avenue… they are probably already sharpening the scimitar…

Israel needed an excuse to go military on the Palestinians again and grab more land. Will Bibi be announcing the new settlement development project on Wednesday or Thursday next week?

The whole notion that Jared Kushner could serve the Israeli/Palestinian issue as an unbiased interlocutor is “bull shit to the infinite power.”

Uh, a bit of history. Among the people who voted for the embassy move act in 1995 (passed 93-5): Joe Biden, Barbara Boxer, Tom Daschle, Christopher Dodd, Russ Feingold, Dianne Feinstein, Harold Ford, Tom Harkin, Teddy Kenndy, John Kerry, Pat Leahy, Barbara Mikulski etc etc. Please don’t say “rests solely.”

Really? And when this instigates some largely ineffectual attacks from the Palestinians, as it is intended to do, and Israel then responds with tanks, an embargo and killing numerous Palestinians, as this is intended to justify, who do you think gets the Oscar? Dead Palestinian child No. 1 or No. 2?

I’m still of the mind that this is actually a Blow Job for Bibi that will, hopefully, get the permitting approved for the Trump Tower in Tel Aviv.

Plus, it’ll give the Likud Yahoos a reason to finally use all those nuclear weapons (that they don’t have) they’ve been stockpiling all these years.
