Discussion: Trump And Allies Gleefully Seize Upon Mueller's Denial Of Buzzfeed Reporting

Call it a hunch, but I’m betting Mr. Mueller has far, far more damning information that bigly outweighs any reporting discrepancies that Buzzfeed might have published…

It did not appear to bother them at all. They retain their dignity, stayed on purpose while the pre-pubescent punks had no dignity and scratched their pimples.

If I saw my kids face in there he or she would be using tweezers to pick pine needles out of the front lawn today.

Trump And Allies Gleefully Seize Upon Mueller’s Denial Of BuzzFeed Reporting

Initially, Trump couldn’t figure out that Mattis’ resignation letter was a scathing rebuke of him and his policies either. It took a day or so before someone got the cajones to explain it to him.

There’s another aspect to this. The Toobin meltdown “Collapse of Journalism” bullshit.

Sometimes investigative journalists get things wrong or muddled in reporting the process, even if the facts and overall gist of the reporting is sound. I’m critical of a lot of journalists and news organization, but mostly because many don’t even to try to get at the truth, contenting themselves to publish the controversy instead.

For the love of God, when will we finally see this POS be convicted of the crimes we all know he committed? I am sick and tired of having my hopes up that this is finally the “big one” only to have cold water thrown on it. C’mon media, give us a break and stop torturing us!!!

I really think Mueller is just trying to get the media and - especially - some members of Congress to slow down, back off, and be patient until he gets everything in the investigation finished, connected, and tied off so the perpetrators - especially Individual ! - have no good way out.

There were too many people calling for an immediate report about this, clamoring for Congressional investigations about this topic, and calling for impeachment. IMO, that had more to do with the cryptic SCO statement as the actual Buzzfeed story. The detail or characterization inaccuracy in the story gave him the opportunity to get people to hit the pause button.

“BuzzFeed story is acknowledged #FAKENEWS and comes from so-called federal law enforcement, Deep State”

… And we all remember how Giuliani condemned FBI leaks in the lead-up to the 2016 election…

Someone inform Trump that this does not mean Mueller likes you.

Many people are saying that the Mainstream Media will have a very hard
time restoring credibility because of the way they have treated me over
the past 3 years

Many people are saying that you sold off our foreign policy to build one of your crap hotels, and it will take much more than three years to repair the damage caused by your empire of bribery.

Paul Singer, the billionaire backer of the Washington Free Beacon, was a Rubio supporter during the Republican primary season when he hired GPS Fusion to do oppo research on trump. He abandoned it when trump won the primary.

GPS Fusion approached the DNC attorney (who also served as the Clinton campaign attorney) and proposed continuing their trump oppo research, hiring Christopher Steele because of his Russian contacts. The DNC never used any of the dossier info in the campaign, because it was still uncorroborated. Hillary actually never knew about the dossier until it was published.

Yes, this bothers me too. The OSC’s rare press release was extremely guarded in its language, and vague about its actual objections. There’s something missing here. OSC never leaks, so who are Buzzfeed’s sources? SDNY? Cohen’s attorneys? trump administration? It makes a difference.

One of the reporters apparently has a spotty journalistic record and might be shading the truth here. I put this in the “interesting, but needs verification” category.

So, I suppose now Trump believes Mueller is the epitome of prosecutorial fairness. Good to know!
And to President Fat Ass and his GOP Orcs: thank you for hitching your wagon to that threadbare star from the SCO. As someone wisely stated before me, Fat Ass couldn’t even recognize that the Mattis resignation letter was a giant “Fuck You!” to the Trump administration; it is quite doubtful that he and the rest of his conspirators are able to discern the subtleties in the SCO denial.
And I am glad that Buzzfeed is standing by their reporting… Also, to many on this site: Jason Leopold was not the only reporter on this story, and not every story Leopold ever reported on was found to be inaccurate.
I also am noticing that a lot of the MSM is being - surprisingly! - quite hesitant about calling the Buzzfeed News story a fabrication.
And please remember what Dan Rather said after his story about GWB and the National Guard, which led to his being screwed over by CBS (which, of course, didn’t have that balls that Buzzfeed has, even though CBS has a bit more power to defend its reporters):
“It’s not a matter of opinion whether the central facts of the story were true or not; it’s true,” he says of the 2004 report. “One: That through the influence of his politically powerful father, George W. Bush got into a so-called champagne unit of the Air National Guard as a way of assuring he wouldn’t have to go to Vietnam. And two: After he got in … he disappeared for more than a year.”

I don’t think Mueller’s team leaked anything.
But if they did, it’s a gambit worthy of a political thriller. To leak, and then deny, and have your opponent seize upon your denial as proof of innocence actually makes him endorse the integrity of your investigation.
Again, I don’t think they leaked, but Trump’s bunch just voluntarily cited them as a honest source.
Talk about your own goals.

MSM: “Donald Trump and his administration has told 20,000 lies since the inauguration - so let’s crucify Jason Leopold and Buzzfeed. We are all Judith Millers now!”

Mueller disputes BuzzFeed story. Ergo, everything in the Steele Dossier is FALSE.

Future Logic Professors, take note.

This was the episode in which Woodstein incorrectly identified Haldeman when it was Sloan whom they meant but Sloan hadn’t spoken to the grand jury, blah, blah, blah, and as complicated as that was and as much criticism came down on them, they weren’t entirely incorrect. There’s something similar going on here and it has to do with attribution by BuzzFeed, not incorrect reporting. But we have some very stupid people surrounding the stupidest individual to become prez so we’ll just wait them out as they do their premature victory dance.

We know there are many overt and covert sources of leaks, some true, some false, some intended to deceive, some just published as clickbait. Not all sources are equal. Until the Buzzfeed revelations are corroborated, we can just put them on a shelf and wait for definitive proof. It’s still a possibility that the Buzzfeed sources are henchmen who are willing to lie for the administration, or who are inside the administration itself, tossing out fake OSC “leaks” just to get Mueller to respond with a denial.

I don’t want to fall for every rumor just because I want it to be so. It’s a scary time when we know about the massive, invasive cyberattack on our social media and the abject complicity of many in Congress, many in the press and all in the administration. It should make us doubly skeptical when consuming any media.

Well his day is coming best after he leaves office in 2021 when Done can throw the book at him and put his ass, and his help mates in prison.

Ha ha! Yes, it would be a clever ploy, but somehow I don’t think the OSC is actively employing mind games to make the criminals in trump’s orbit embarrass themselves.

I mean, maybe they are, but it would be risky. I guess I’d like to believe they are stoically silent, steadily building a case based on fact and brushing off the swirling madness outside their doors.
