Discussion for article #247728
These Republicans still think this is real…
Trump is so ignorant. Torture only gets misleading information.
Said like a true coward. He figures torture would sure work on him, he’d cry like a baby. Couldn’t spill his beans fast enough
There is just no limit to the horror.
I suppose one could argue that the Trump campaign is actually a civic good. It has made it utterly impossible for any apologists to ever again characterize the blatantly fascist anti-American fraction of Americans as some minor, obscure fringe handful of nuts. No. The fascists are, manifestly, a good one-fifth of the American population, and the sooner we face up to that reality and start somehow dealing with it, the better. The current state of affairs is horrifying, shocking, and all we get is talking heads selling soap and soda.
Trump may well be the stupidest man to get this close to the Presidency. I’m not exaggerating. There have been some dunces along the line, but this one is sui generis.
The problem is that when you’re being tortured, you’ll tell your torturers whatever it is you think they want to hear. That may or may not be the truth.
But but but the TV and movies make it so real and they always always get their man/woman and usually within the hour.
oh god, what if President Trump really happens?
Once again, I think we’re running into that magical number. It usually lands at about 26% of the population. These are people who still think that we found WMD in Iraq, who think that Obama is a Muslim who’s just itching to take all their guns and declare martial law, who think that Saddam Hussein was behind the 9/11 attacks, and on and on, ad nauseam.
It’s working.
Trump’s desensitizing of our social norms.
No. Not the torture thing.
My consideration for others.
Whenever I read something he spouts?
All I can think of is:
You fucking moron.
And it’s not even satisfying.

I sit in my comfortable safe living room in Oregon USA seeing yet another murderous attack on innocent human beings on the other side of the Atlantic and try to make sense of this world I live in.
Even more troubling for me are the words from two candidates for America’s highest office today. That these two xenophobic assholes are able to put forth their hate and fear and have it put on display by our media for the rest of the world to hear and read is frankly disgusting.
America is better than this and we deserve better from those who say they wish to lead us.
Lead us where? And why on earth should we want to follow either of you deeply flawed purveyors of fear and hate?
The planet is becoming a much smaller place. We already have more fear and hate than we can handle. And Americans are much stronger and better people than you’re capable of leading.
So how about you just STFU and let people do what can be done in light of today’s events.
If you can’t help then don’t hurt. Just shut up.
“Trump said he would ‘go further’ than waterboarding and would listen to the ‘military people’ about how to do it…You talk to General Patton…You talk to General Douglas MacArthur.”
Military people? Like Gen. Patton? And Gen. MacArthur?
They hung six Japanese generals for war crimes that included waterboarding.
Still going to support the GOP nominee, Sen. McCain?
Sounds like Trump is all for repudiating the Geneva Convention, the only protection that American POWs have.
It was on the same channel that brings them all the other real stuff about librul conspiracies and wars on Christmas, so of course 24 was a true story!
You talk to General Patton from years ago. You talk to General Douglas MacArthur," Trump said.
You said it, @MisterNeutron , he’s a stupid one for real. He lives about 97 percent in a tough-guy fantasy world where he goes GRR GRR ME TOUGH and Patton and MacArthur are applauding and blowing him kisses because he’s just the ginchiest. I am ashamed for a country where this god-damn clown could be taken seriously by five losers in a seedy bar, much less—fuck, I can’t say it. I’m Trumped out today. Time to start drinking.
Cruz and Trump aren’t baffling, incomprehensible phenomena who emerged from nowhere and nothing. They’re just mirrors held up to opposite sides of the of the face of the party built by the very men who are now expressing all that bafflement and incomprehension.
Scariest thing is so many Americans agree with this fucking batshit crazy authoritarian crap.
Trump doesn’t know that—that history didn’t make it into any of the actioney blow-em-up movies from which he draws most of his knowledge of the world.
