Is there any sense that the Trump administration case is so weak that SCOTUS will decline to hear the appeal?
I’m pretty sure trump has pissed off and freaked out the Supremes too at this point, so go for it.
There might be some wing nuts on the bench but except for Gorsuch, they’re not his base. He threatens them too.
“The President is not required to admit people from countries that sponsor or shelter terrorism, until he determines that they can be properly vetted and do not pose a security risk to the United States.”
That’s a great argument! Maybe you should have tried it in front of the various Federal Courts where you lost. Oh, you did make that argument? Well, maybe it’s not so great after all.
With all their concern about the vetting process, you’d think the administration would of completed the review of the process by now.
I’m wondering about this too. All of the decisions have overturned the ban, so it doesn’t seem like there’s much debate about this in the lower courts. Why would they even hear it unless they plan to overrule them?
Fuckers can’t even vet the people in their own adminstration
Plus, the covfefe tastes so much better after you are personally mentioned in a tweet.
Would Trump threaten SCOTUS? I think yes, in one way or another.
By the way, when would one expect SCOTUS to make the announcement about whether they will accept the case?
I have a good friend who has been doing high school exchange student programs for the past 15+ years and he deals primarily with France. He works on the US side for students coming here A normal year has a group of 50-70 students in both spring and fall.
This year, his spring group was only 37 students. He told me earlier this week that the program was cancelled for next fall and for the foreseeable future as his French counterparts have told him that the parents don’t want to send their kids here because of our “immigration issues”. They fear that their kids would be harassed or even detained at the airport.
He’s 64 right now so his business has collapsed and most likely won’t reopen. This was his entire livelihood (I never realized how much work goes into these programs or that there was a profit to be made…) with lots of “tourist dollars” that won’t be spent in the US.
:Let’s send Trump overseas again and ban him from coming back.
Hey, why not? Failing upward is the over- (or under-) arching theme of this lummox’s life. If his guttersnipe family had a coat of arms it could have the inspiring Latin motto “Deficient in Excelsum” inscribed upon it.
You don’t expect this administration to care about actual people, do you?
I want to like this comment and sentiment 100,000,000x. Even more since OSG pissed off NATO, European allies, American Intelligence agencies, and probably leaked foreign intelligence to the wrong people which in turn means they are not inclined to help us.
Some one better prove that they got their shit together before defaming the process.
This wasn’t talked about as much as it should have been (for obvious reason, it was yesterday’s news).
Trump administration approves tougher visa vetting, including social media checks
Under the new procedures, consular officials can request all prior passport numbers, five years’ worth of social media handles, email addresses and phone numbers and 15 years of biographical information including addresses, employment and travel history. (bit.ly/2qBSrpv)
Officials will request the additional information when they determine “that such information is required to confirm identity or conduct more rigorous national security vetting,” a State Department official said on Wednesday.
This will most likely drive away more tourists, foreign students, business people.
No.
And its getting worse. I suspect we will see a bigger drop over the summer months, particularly here in Florida.
Oh, and another wonderful bit of news from Florida. Yesterday was the start of the Hurricane season. And there is no head of FEMA or NOAA. What could possibly go wrong, right??
Half of the students in the top business schools in the US are foreign. Or were. Many of them stay, and that has been a boon for US businesses. We’ve had a financial brain-drain on the rest of the world, That will now slow down.
“The President is not required to admit people from countries that sponsor or shelter terrorism …
… with some exceptions.
Helpful hint: Bring orb.
