Discussion: Trolls Attack Old Navy For Tweeting Picture Of Interracial Family

De acuerdo…

By the way, race relations have never been better in the U.S.

The problem is that political matters simply do not interest* the younger people who drive the improved race relations.

  • No I AM NOT SPEAKING of the highly visible, dedicated and atypical youngsters who rally and demonstrate. Rather, I am talking about regular, consistent and reliable voting AT LEAST as high as that of geriatrics

Number 1 most searched term for most of them is probably “BBC”, followed by “creampie” – usually in conjunction.

At least Old Navy prices their crap appropriately. If you combine their constant %-off promotions with their ever-present markdowns, you can buy a school-year’s worth of clothes for a kid and still have room in the budget for some nice pieces from somewhere else. The Old Navy stuff mostly holds up until the kid outgrows it, and they cycle through styles so quickly that your kid doesn’t have 2 classmates wearing the same things.

It could just be a misunderstanding…

Perhaps those black guys saw something else in those women besides their whiteness. Maybe they liked who they were as people

I’m not surprised that there are a lot of bigots in the world, but it does astonish me that people advertise their hatred on Twitter.

That’s remarkably charitable, but I doubt it. But it is why I used the word “possibly”.

Nice try, but they’re clearly British.

I don’t have any problem with Old Navy. I’m not a regular shopper but I’ve stocked up on budget t-shirts there in the past and can’t really complain.

But yeah, they knew exactly what they were doing. And that’s not a bad thing. They know their clientele isn’t typically aging Tea Party and/or Trump-supporter types. I don’t think they even sell XXXXXXL. But they get credit for being on the right side of history while knocking a few days off of the lives of racists.

I’m just not sure why they went with Matthew Mcconaughey.

Did any of these racist fucks use their real names by any chance? What a sick bunch of assholes. Its 2016 for cripe’s sake!! I’m so sick of these assholes getting even a lick of attention for their bigotry.

I don’t know about that. I see a lot of black men (young and old) with white women (young and old) here in Southern California and they are all seem to be together for the right reasons. Maybe it’s different in your neck of the woods. I also speak from personal experience having been with my guy for 32 years.

Is there anyone left in America who isn’t friends with at least one racially diverse family? Who knew this ad would receive hate email.

Absolutely, having been a black woman my whole life, I can 100% vouch for the fact that there’s a not small contingent of racist white guys with an extreme fetish for black women. I honestly can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve been hit on by someone wearing the confederate flag on something and/or someone who I instinctively know regularly uses the N word.

See what I mean?

Never use a big word when a diminutive one will do.

I am sure that is absolutely correct

I know exactly what you mean…er I mean, yep!

Maybe they did know it could lead to the kind of reaction they got, or maybe whomever tweeted the photo thought, “what a super hot couple with a cute kid, perfect”. Or, perhaps they realized there might be a response but realized its fucking stupid to use or not use a perfectly good, non controversial photo based on what racist may or may not do.
