Discussion: Trey Gowdy Names GOP Aide Turned Lobbyist As Director Of Benghazi Panel

Discussion for article #222810

"I am pleased to have him on our team as we conduct a frivolous, fact-free investigation to ensure our fellow Americans know the full truth just how obsessed we are with our sole remaining talking point: How Obama and Hillary personally supervised the attack on Benghazi."

Wow. A lobbyist. Now someone tell me who didn’t see that coming. The STUPID PARTY Reps are all about making money off of their foolish voters.

Since this farce is really just a fund-raising game for the GOP, it’s only appropriate they have a lobbyist serve as the Director of the panel.

Oh, good. The circus has a ringleader. We can all sleep soundly now knowing this is taken care of.

I hope the Dems do not validate this kangaroo court with “bipartisanship.”

As an aside, it has become all too often that Sahil Kapur writes the “GOP stories” here at TPM. As soon as I saw the headline, I thought it would be one of Kapur’s stores. Naturally it reads as if it was spoon fed to Kapur by the GOP Caucus. .

Good thing she had all that experience from killing Vince Foster and drug dealing from the airport in Arkansas.

Gowdy is here, strike up the dueling banjos.

While Trey’s surely his own Grampa, the photo with the post has a certain Morlock flavor…

The lobbyist works for the Smith-Free Group, it’s his destiny that he’s going to work for a Truth-Free commitee

Who knew the Republicans were such comics?

I wonder how much he’s being paid for this boondoggle ? This could drag out for months, and we (taxpayers) are presumably on the hook for this. . .

He does seem to be fed from the republican trough quite often. However, this “piece” is actually barely worthy of being called a story. Its a bare bones piece surrounding a press release.

All news organizations with even a handful of staff assign them to a “desk” (or more than one “desk” if staff is very few). It uses time and staff best; storys are more apt to meet deadlines with better writing, because it’s certain who’s responsible for a piece; reporters better develop reliable sources for on and (more importantly) off-the-record information; reporters better understand the nuanced contexts of information and storys.

Mr. Kapur may or may not have requested the Republican desk. This probably was a Republican press release. Not much for an eagle-eyed, ace reporter to pick apart at this stage.

That is the plan. The whole intent is to de-legitimize the US Government.

For theloveofgod, just please don’t say how he’s fair and will look at the evidence like they did with Ken Starr.
