The greatness of Jon Stewart and John Oliver comes from their ability to fuel outrage through comedy, to say “I’m angry about this, and you should be angry too.” I have yet to see that same fire in Trevor Noah. He’s too nice. I can’t envision him attacking Fox News with the same voracity as Stewart.
But how much of that outrage is the speaker himself and how much is the lines he’s reading that were written by someone else? That part isn’t clear to me. Although when Stewart is on someone else’s show, like O’Riley, he doesn’t seem much different than he does hosting TDS.
I dunno; I think a South African son of a black mother and white father who called his comedy show “Born a Crime” probably has some veins of righteous anger available to be tapped.
