This list needs to be kept active on TPM, and updated daily as the list of defecting / deflecting GOP’ers inevitably grows.
Weasels are cool animals and shouldn’t be compared to things not cool. Like GOP’ers.
And look, McConnell and Ryan top the weasel list. But let’s be fair, these two ‘lawmakers’ have more practice at being weasels than anyone else, so they should be first.

Thank you, Governor Carlson. This is the best simple description I’ve read yet that explains what our elected officials should be doing. Damn, why can’t the vast majority of Republicans (and, yes, a few Democrats) get that?
The title led me to hope for a kind of “Self-Help guide to quitting Trump”, but no, sad.
Weasels, wolverines, minks, nutrias – they are gorgeous animals who are straightforward and fierce in order to survive a harsh environment. I don’t think Ryan and McConnell et al. have any excuse for trying to play both sides of the fence on Trump.
I think his approval will go below spirochete’s, soon enough.
At least that one is associated with some fun.

As you know, when I first talked about this, when I did support Donald, I said at that time, and ever since then, if I see a situation where our conservative principles are being distorted, I’m going to stand up for those conservative principles. If I see and hear things that I think are wrong, I’m not going to sit by and say nothing. Because I think I have a duty as a Republican leader to defend Republican principles and our party’s brand if I think they’re being distorted.

That is entirely dependent on the spirochete in question and how it is acquired. Lyme Disease is caused by a spirochete (Borrelia burgdorferi, B afzelii or B garinii) carried by deer ticks. Yaws is caused by the same species (different subspecies) as syphilis (Treponema pallidum).
