Discussion for article #247599
Perhaps the real reason members of AIPAC want to boycott is that listening to Trump is simply a complete waste of time. One can hear what Trump has to say, (itās always the same thing no matter whereā¦āI am the Greatestā) and they can hear that each and every day on any of the major and cable TV news networks repeated over and over again, with no sincere journalists to challenge him.
There goes the GOPās overtures to Jewish American voters by way of being āstrong on Israel.ā
Trump: āJews are losers. I prefer people who donāt end up in concentration camps.ā
This is pretty funny - Trump could end up with almost 0% of the Jewish vote!
Obama got 78%, then 69% of the Jewish vote. Kerry got 76%. At least 3/4 of Jews are almost perfectly aligned with what I perceive to be the politics of most of the TPM community and thus would be stridently anti-Trump (and anti-GOP in general) - and less likely to vote for Trump that even McCain or Romney, even if Trump hadnāt made his famous comments about Israel. The remainder of the Jewish electorate, however, is extremely conservative (or at least neo-conservative) and pro-Netanyahu (e.g., Adelson, Jennifer Rubin, Bill Kristol et al). Even faux liberals like Schumer jump ship when thereās any hint of anti-Likud policy. So Trump has managed to strongly turn off almost every segment of the Jewish electorate. He may do worse with Jews than Romney did with Afro-Americans!
Who could have ever foreseen that embracing Nazism would have a down side?
How are you feeling now, Sheldon?
āWe are against the ugliness that has engulfed this election season. And he has driven much of it, from his comments about Mexicans and Muslims to the violence at his rallies.ā
DAMAGE CONTROLā¦DAMAGE CONTROLā¦
So far this is exactly nothing. This is just as significant as Republicans gathering to talk for the fifth/sixth time about maybe opposing Trump. Zippo, Until/Unless they actually do anything.
Right now thereās this profile in courage: "AIPAC declined to comment to the AP about the plans for a boycott of Trumpās speech.,
Trump: I feel so much at home with fellow conservatives. We are all one big happy family.
I see that Sanders is hesitating to speak to AIPAC after all other candidates have accepted because of the strong anti-Israel sentiment among youths, especially on our campuses. I think he doesnāt want the ātaintā⦠how scary is that? (There is a petition among young people pressing him not to goā¦)
A group of rabbis also said they planned to boycott the speech at the annual conference, according to the Associated Press. They planned to hand out fliers asking attendees to skip the speech or do a silent walk-out.
Or will Trump have them forcibly removed by his goon squad?
Beware of the brown shirts, Rabbis. Beware.
No one knows better where Trumps rhetoric leads than the Jewish community. They should boycott and protest.

āHe embodies āSinat chinamāā¦ā
Trump and most of his supporters hail from the Island of Misfit Goys.
Wowā¦imagine the optics if Trumpās goons forcibly remove a group of Rabbis from his speech.
I wouldnāt put it past himā¦in fact, that might be the last, best, hope of the GOP to rid themselves of this cancer of their own creation.
Bernie has condemned Israeli treatment of Palestinians, and he was the first Senator to announce his boycott of Bibiās Congressional speech last June. I think Senator Sanders knows right well about āthe taintā and its source. I admire his intregrity.
As an American who worrys that our craven politicians will permit, even encourage, further atrocious military folly in the Middle East, I find it very scary indeed!
The man is running for President - he can only make so many enemies before that becomes pretty much impossible. Even now its gonna take a total implosion by Clinton to turn things in his favour.
This shouldnāt present a problem for Trump.
Heāll spend some time bashing Muslims and then declare that under his presidency, Israel will never have to worry about a US commitment to their security.
After all. this is AIPAC and thatās what you say when you give a speech to AIPAC.
Itās not like heās going to mention that his supporters are against Merrick Garland because that would mean too many Jews on the Supreme Court.
ā¦But he will get 66% of the neo-Nazi and white supremacist vote, and the illiterate 34% will have misread their ballots to see āClintonā for āTrump.ā
Too late for him then seeing how his grandkids are Jews being raised in Judaism.
