Because in an on the record interview he can’t say “Oh, sh**, we’re in deep trouble!” So he has to mealy-mouth and put the best face on things. But the GOP probably will hold the House simply because there aren’t enough races in play.
“We know in the House we have to take care of ourselves.”
That’s the GOP outlook on everything.
