So Emmet Flood took a white house gig with the intention of fighting a legal holy war for the president’s right to ignore subpoenas and indictments, which just don’t seem to be coming from Mueller et al. Maybe instead he can be put to use defending the president’s right to grift off the job. Get to work Flood, we’re paying your salary and want to see you do something.
Good points. And I agree, probably the smart move on the AG’s side.
There’s a very passionate side of me that wants this sh*t stain on our country to fully pay for his misbehavior and misdeeds. It’s an almost vicarious urge.
It’s good to know we have some very competent and capable people on these cases. I just don’t trust yet that he won’t manage to weasel out of being held accountable and responsible yet again.
I read somewhere that what he’s owed to contractors that he’s bilked over the many years has added up to $billions. If that’s not fraud deserving of punishment, what is? But he’s somehow always found the loopholes or grey areas to skitter along and reap rewards from.
And now he’s our frickin’ president*…
It just galls me. It’s a hard one to swallow. Thank you for your measured (and frankly encouraging) reply.
Agreed all the way around, except…
Dumpster has set an ugly precedent by systematically going after his predecessor’s accomplishments. We’ve got to undo everything he’s done in undoing Obama’s legacy, including searching for ways to get Kavanaugh off the SC. Does this mean that every president from here on is going to have to/get to try to erase the people who came before?
@avattoir absolutely love gaffsnabble. We’ve got to get it on an online dictionary so I can use it in gaffScrabble.
Well, so long as McConnell continues to violate his constitutional oath and responsibilities, then thats the precedent.
I think the Egyptians were big on that sort of thing back in the day.
I think that anyone hired by trump or one of trump’s appointees should be removed from their position pending, at least, a review of their qualifications for the job, their past record of transgressions if any, and their fealty to the country or their party/leaders. Failing that review they are removed from their position and face any applicable laws they violated. And DHS gets dissolved, ICE gets dissolved, and they get reconstituted as Constitutional, legal, humane agents of freedom and democracy, not hateful, racist, frightened thugs and bullies.
You can’t have an emoluments case if the president isn’t in the mix, that is like having a murder trial without someone charged in the case.
This is, bar none, the best comment in the known universe. Should you incline yourself to write books, I would be an avid fan. Such prose thrills my soul.
