Discussion: TLDR: Manafort Reportedly Didn't Bother To Read Russian Meeting Emails

Or the fucking subject line: Russia - Clinton - private and confidential

In his defense, Manafort received 50 Russia related campaign emails each day. There was nothing about this one that really stood out.

What a unique combination in Manafort, i.e. corrupt and stupid.

Especially since we know Manafort is great because Trump only hires the best, most Tremendous people.

It must be sad to be as cynical as you all are.

But hereā€™s the thing Iā€™m kind of astonished by: How all these chiselers could have been crowding the thin edge of legality so insistently all their lives and only now go tumbling over the edge wailing into oblivion like the end of the stateroom scene in ā€œA Night at the Operaā€ combined with the end of ā€œDon Giovanni.ā€ I believe in the randomness of matter and so forth as it goes boiling out from the Big Bang, and I believe sometimes it forms seeming patterns that arenā€™t really created by a higher power even if it seems that way, but dayum it sure seems like thereā€™s karma at work some times. Like now, is one of the times I mean. Dayum.

When Trumps lie they lie about things everyone knows are obviously, instantly provably false. Manafortā€™s old school; when he lies itā€™s not instantly falsifiable. I donā€™t know what he read and didnā€™t read. Itā€™s absurd, it makes no sense, you canā€™t believe it. But you canā€™t instantly point to the proof otherwise. So thereā€™s that. Itā€™s a mastery of old-fashioned competence and craft that the Trumps canā€™t claim.

I seem to remember learning something to the effect that "Ignorance is no excuse. . . "

The proverbial rat/sinking ship scenario. Fucking moron. Sad.

Too much time in the Russian money pool wrinkled their judgment?

Exactly. Well stated.

ETA: The Trumps donā€™t even try really. Theyā€™ve been so successful with their ā€œwhat are you going to do about itā€ lie-blitz approach that Iā€™m sure that they are way out of practice at crafting anything that will stand up at all.

I donā€™t read most of my email either. I usually have the opposite problem, tho, trying to sound like I know whatā€™s in emails Iā€™ve been sentā€¦ā€œdinner at your sisterā€™s? Tonight?.. oh right, of course, the emailā€¦ā€

Manafort didnā€™t have to read the email, he helped set up the meeting more than likely.

That theory is gonna get severely tested.

He knew it was about the campaign and Russian-related so he didnā€™t need to read the whole chain. The name of the Russian government attorney wasnā€™t in the emails, but who cares what her name is going in - am I right, Paul? And remember, the Russian attorney says Manafort spent much of the meeting looking at his phone - probably going back to the emails to look for the spelling of her name and maybe a phone number.

Paul Manafort is every dumbass on ā€œCOPSā€ who ever got busted with drugs in his pocket and screamed ā€œbut these ainā€™t my pants!ā€ or ā€œIā€™ve never seen these shorts before!ā€ as his defense.

Earlier on MSNBC, Ali Velshi said that there were so many people being thrown under the bus that there werenā€™t any people left on the bus.

Not quite. Cheetolini is still wandering the aisle inside.

Simpler explanation: the bigger the lie, the harder you can shut down your detractors. The Trumpire innovates on this by multiplexing the lie and the rationale. Hence the name for Their technique: ā€œhonest hyperboleā€.

Now to watch Them ā€œpurgeā€ and ā€œsurgeā€ at the same time. Itā€™s already getting deep on Townhall :smile_cat:

Believing that he IS the bus. Looking forward to this being disproved.
