To be fair, that probably beats $80K in student loans, a $9/hour minimum wage job and life as a gamer in their parents’ basement.

Probably many folks here don’t realize the recent inflation in college tuition. In the 70s, Calif colleges were considered ‘free’ (they did have a registration fee $150 per year for undergraduate students and $180 per year for graduate students). My Fla in-state tuition was more–but not much more–than that. With parent help, work-study, and some care, you ended college without debt.

Today, U of Calif tuition is over $12,000 per year, if an in-state kid can even get in.

You don’t really have to look around the world for models of free education. You only have to roll-back the anti-tax, anti-governtment, privatization, libertarian movement!

I have lived in California since 1965 and I remember when it was so cheap to go to university. Ronald Reagan changed all of that and other republican governors after him
