Yes by all means, let’s get rid of all the women in positions of power.
Nancy Smash has been doing a decent job of holding the crazy caucus at bay despite a massive member deficit. The problem isn’t the House leadership for goodness sake, it’s the state and local leaders not being able to form a strong enough coaltion to win local elections. That’s not all on them of course, but our “problem” (which is one of not winning electoral votes since we dominated in popular vote) is one of communication and local elections.
That’s definitely been a problem. The Texas Democratic party wised up and has been working really hard on getting people into local positions. It’s working. It’s slow but it’s making a difference.
Who the fuck is Tim Ryan?
You read my mind as I thought you might. Yes, the woman holding the most power in Congress has gotta go. Elect the pretty and younger man and demote the woman whom her district admires (and I’m one of them) and likes so very much, and she’ll take her prodigious fundraising skills among affluent California Democrats with her. Wait for the boy to do the same in OH.
@tomanjeri What’s a Nancy Smash?
Yeah, right? Everything seems to be headed in the direction of telling POC and women to STFU.
Yes, we made good inroads this year. More Dems than ever, and Drumpf won by a much smaller margin than Romney or McCain. The problem is that we don’t have a state leader than we can rally around.
This boomer agrees.
Though I also think that Pelosi has demonstrated her ability to move legislation when she has the gavel. But if some younger reps can start moving into the on deck circles, that would be a very good thing.
DNC is where the shake up is needed. The problem was not the Dems ability to get legislation through the House when they had the majority, Pelosi did her job. The problem is getting more Dems elected, which falls back on the DNC.
Thanks-the question was mostly rhetorical
I am 62 and I think someone my age or older should not be leading the party at this moment. Clearly seniors are not so enamored of Pelosi they would follow her off a cliff, so let’s try something different.
When asked to comment on his boss’s opponent’s claim that his boss was caught loafing, Ryan’s spokesman said, “Ryan’s lyin’ about Ryan’s lyin’ about.”
Meh. I think experience counts for a lot at the moment. not a good time for a steep learning curve.
TIM RYAN FOR PRESIDENT!!!
(where has he been hiding?)
Let’s not start promoting age discrimination.
Bernie has no problem appealing to all ages.
Let’s get Howard Dean back. He knew what he was doing and was full time.
The DNC is not where protest and political action will originate. All they do is send emails.
The amount of time surely talking about the DNC during the election was wasted and destructive. Another email story.
A million people on the National Mall to save Medicare and Medicaid will happen because of the coalitions discussed in the piece. It’s nothing the DNC has been a focus for in the past, is it?
I love Nancy Pelosi but at some point failure has to be punished.
What? Do work at the state level? That ain’t glamorous.
Right idea, wrong wing of the Capitol building.
Didn’t we gain seats in the House? The issue was Comey. Democrats did not rally around Hillary aggressively enough to defend her against an 11th hour hit job and false smear. They left her on an island when she had done nothing but fight, fight and fight against every opponent. The loss is on the voters and it’s on our various coalition members who did not rise to the occasion to lift her up when the FBI colluded with Russia and Trump to undermine an election. If we on the left had done such a thing to a GOP nominee, there is no telling the extremes that the GOP would’ve gone to undermine the Dems.
