Discussion: Through Spox, Ryan Criticizes Arpaio Pardon: 'The Speaker Does Not Agree'

Mercy me! Such an outstanding example of the righteous vapors, Mr. Paul Ryan! Why, I do believe you may be the frontrunner to win the 2017 Miz Lindsey Graham Golden Aunt Pittypat Fainting Divan Award. Did you dictate this pseudo-heartfelt announcement to your staff as you were hiding under the bed?
And with just a smidge - just a smidge, mind you! - more backbone and fortitude, you may - just may! - be able to win a bitchslap contest against a 7-year-old girl.

This is Ryan’s umpteenth entry in the bidding war to make the cover of a soon-to-be-released book entitled Profiles in Cowardice.

I am thrilled with the photo. Flake, as well as Democratic contenders, can use this in the campaign. If, as is stated, many are not thrilled with the pardon, linking her to the pardon and to Arpaio should doom her run. It’s not unlike the GOP linking a Democratic candidate to Nancy Pelosi or to Willie Horton. This is the evidence the electorate needs to know where she stands.

Doomed, I say. Doomed.

@littlegirlblue

And yet damned few of them are kicked out of office when it comes time to re-populate the House. How many of them are now serving more than 10 terms in office? Yeah, the electorate in general disapproves but ‘my’ representative/Senator isn’t the problem.

He’s actually more of Koch toady than a Trump toady, but your point still stands.

I couldn’t resist, and I hope you are right about her impending doom. And also Flake’s doom, that insidious little hypocritical prick.

I would love to see someone, ANYone, on the morning talk shows rebut this whole scenario with the Lynch thing. It won’t happen because Harvey will be the only thing that is talked about this morning.

But why is it, when perfectly viable rebuttals are available, no one ever brings them up? It’s not like the questions will be a surprise.

If it’s anything like the way the outrage over the “pussy” comments blew over, should we expect to see 1/2 million Latinos and their supporters marching in Washington when the new Congress goes into session in January 2019?

This is not likely to “blow over,” as outrages against people of color, by law enforcement and/or vigilantes, will likely continue or, dog forbid, increase going forward. Every new outrage will fuel more pushback. We need to channel that pushback into the voting booths next fall.

They already have the hive set up there.

I think an underground lair coated in spider webs is more Gorka’s style myself.

Arpaio was pulling over American citizens who were not doing anything wrong, just pulling them over based on what Arpaio thought they looked like. He held them for however long it took them to confirm their citizenship to his satisfaction.

Republicans now advocate for government bigger than Nazi Germany, a government self-declaring a right to loot the resources of any country it decides to invade because of the religion practiced by the people there.

This is the America of the Republican Party. Have no doubt. Trump and his followers are coming for all of us.

‘gallus fecoidal’? I looked it up, found nothing. Sounds god-awful :hushed:
I’m guessing some combination of coprophilia and bestiality?

Hint: gallus = rooster (male chicken)

ty! When I looked up the Latin translation, it said ‘cock’ and I guess I’m on a vulgar wavelength. Yikes.

Ryan can’t even come out with a statement on his own. “The speaker does not agree”

It rubs the lotion on its skin

Folks gotta find out.

Please remember that there is always either some new or 2016 related outrage that’s part of this timeline and if Friday showed folks anything, its that this administration is willing to go with a ‘clogged toilet’ approach as it relates to a news dump (sorry).

They are likely under a fatalistic impression, that there might be a small but pivotal amount of folks who are too tired to organize, get angry or perhaps vote to send a message. If that’s the case…

agreed.

This is in fact the problem. There are none so blind as those who won’t see that their critter is corrupt, venal, mentally off balance, whatever, and keeps sending them back.

I’ve been trying on different names since November 8, lately I’m using 45, but that doesn’t express just how much I despise him,

This is an good run down of all the crap and the cost of that crap that Arpaio pulled in AZ, $92M dollars of crap and the voters kept re-electing him. :rage:

And another “brave” Republican speaks out about his displeasure with his President. Isn’t that special? Republicans would be better off to not say a word about Trumps atrocities until/unless they are ready to do something about them. Which we know they will never do. Trump is accomplishing what we Democrats could not, he has ripped their moral high ground argument from their still living lips.

The details of what he’s done are horrifying, and yes, media does tend to gloss over and settle on “he’s a racist”, which makes what 45 has done all the more worse. People who had committed no crimes were abused by the sheriff, and in disregard of the Constitution 45 swore to uphold. The sheriff’s fans say what good does it do to throw an 85-year old man in jail, and the answer is he deserved more jail time than he got. He should have been made to sit in a cell for as long as possible.

Like you, I’ve tried on different names. Perhaps “the thing” is the best, because it’s so simple. The thing of whom we speak (write) deserves neither an elegant nor a creative label. A sobriquet so ordinary as “the thing” is an outstanding insult to someone who is incredibly consumed with declaring, and being recognized for, his extraordinariness.
