Discussion: Thousands Flee Homes In Houston Amid Catastrophic Flooding From Harvey

Sympathy for those in peril, but according to the administration that’s what you get for importing a Chinese Hoax.

“This is a storm that the United States has not seen yet,” he said.

This “years long effort” is well and good.

However, has anyone heard what they are doing to respond to the immediate crisis of such a huge metropolitan area with most of it’s population trapped in their homes for an unforeseen amount of time?

I have not see/heard anything in response yet that seems to match the severity of the crisis that will continue to unfold from this.

Trump revoked Obama’s executive order on higher standards for flood protection right before #Harvey took off http://columbiaclimatelaw.com/resources/climate-deregulation-tracker/database/executive-orders/#13690 …

I hope the State of TX is prepared to shoulder the financial burden on this disaster pretty much themselves. The regime has already made clear, one of their priorities is to have the States pick up the costs on disaster relief.

Oh, and by the way: there won’t be as large a supply of undocumented labor to assist in rebuilding so - … you’re welcome.

So good to get Republican assurance from their non-scientists that this is all normal weather coming to your neighborhood soon.

Can you imagine how bad it would be if global warming was real?

A deep red state gets hit by a record breaking rain caused by warming oceans and high atmospheric moisture content, but will this move the needle at all on beliefs about climate change? I’m not hopeful that it will. My cat has a better ability to learn and change in response to adversity than most wing nuts. That being said, I don’t want to gloat. No one person caused this. I wish no harm on anyone down there, but they are in a world of hurt.

Trump seems to understand that he would be disruptive relative to a major disaster. That is a sign of some self awareness on his part.

Probably, but if there’s a way to relocate refugees to condos in New York, or to have a Trump-related company profit from developing new housing in Texas, you can bet the Federal Government will be happy to pay for those components.

Trump’s budget reduces Nation Weather Service and NOAA too. Trump also wants to shutdown NASA satellite plans for mapping ocean temps, clouds and CO2. Republicans believe that if you ignore it it can’t hurt you. A plan that has never worked too well in practice.

So if I ignore the GOP I’ll be OK?

Well, apparently not. The administration has just issued a statement that Trump will go to Texas on Tuesday (when it will be still be raining and thousands won’t have been rescued). I fully expect him to avoid Houston but make plenty of glib statements in the middle of a national crisis.

Ted Cruz (with no sense of shame) just made an appeal for federal aid to Texas. Yes, the same Ted Cruz who voted against federal aid for Hurricane Sandy victims. They don’t even pretend not to be hypocrites.

No plan (unless it’s top secret). DT will not reveal a U.S. plan of attack on the weather until all Cees have been deployed,

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Brock Long, President Trump’s pick to lead … Long was the director of Alabama’s Emergency Management …

You have to ask the burning question, what trade was made by DT to pick this guy with “flu experience” ?

I was just about to post hoping that now we might be able to get some traction on climate change–the State of Texas’s elected officials are at the forefront of the deny climate change campaign IMO. Then, I read your post and realize nothing will change from this–and the insane flooding is only getting started. The water temp in the Gulf is 87^F–a record.

I can’t wait for T-Rump to dig in deeper on climate change denial once he hears newspeople and scientists on TV daring to suggest that this is climate related. The blathering I expect him to do over the next week (global warming…something something…hoax…fake news…good people on both sides of debate…nobody really knows…fake news) will be cold comfort to people in Texas and is going to make him look even more of a witless ass if that is possible. That is some comfort to me. Keep digging Donny Dumbshit!
