I think this is really an exciting part of the dynamic. By responding so aggressively they’re keeping it up front in the news cycle. Kind of a variant of the Streisand Effect.
I hope they keep whining loudly. It’s time to see this fixed.
As a side note, there was a good DecodeDC this week on this topic. Taking police violence out of the local prosecutor’s hands is a good first step that has already been taken in Wisconson.
