Discussion: Theresa May: 'Uncharted Waters' If Parliament Reject Brexit Deal

a very real risk of no Brexit

Doesn’t really seem like a problem to half the country.

Has anyone really explained the purpose or benefit of BREXIT? It just seems like a huffy (and unrealistic) expression of independence in spite of a condition that inherently has many dependencies. I understand the motivations of those who pushed the vote in a given direction, but it feels as if people have come to regret their choice, and would choose differently if given another opportunity.

Conservatives who don’t know how to sail should never go out to sea. She’s put England in a ship without a paddle, steering wheel or a compass. You just have to believe and pray a lot.

“Let’s go find Atlantis and other conservative myths or conspiracy theories. It will make us rich.”

The whole Brexit thing was a bait and switch from the beginning. The promises made were lies and thus the contract that the referendum represents is null and void as any contract based on fraud is. Time for a new referendum based on an honest depiction of what the actual Brexit would look like. I’m confident the British people would choose well in that case.

She didn’t want it. Most of Britain doesn’t want it, now that they understand. Why are they so hellbent on pushing it through?

Screw Parliament—give the people the vote. They can either vote for the deal May negotiated or vote to remain in the EU instead. At least they know now the reality of what they’ll be getting.

Racism. Combined with a nostalgia for Empire and a Britain that never was. But mostly racism.

Brits grossly overestimated their power and influence over the EU. On paper, the Brexit deal looked okay and the powers-that-be assumed the rest of the EU would quake with fear at the prospect of losing Britain. May never suspected the Brit Bluff would be called and harsh reality would come into crisp focus. A “no deal” will be a disaster for GB, but it’s what voters chose. Let democracy reap what it’s sown.

Because most of Britain doesn’t want it, now that they understand. (I gather that the hidden part of that is that Parliament, or some key portion of it, feels that it will have greater power if they don’t have to abide by EU policies and decrees. It might also be that they were just plain bought.)

Democracy is not, “Vote once and that’s it”. Democracy means that the government responds to evolving public opinion.

Then can we please have a do-over on Trump?

They were sold down the river by the same people who brought you Trump
Same Lies
Same MO as Trump ( Mexico will pay for the wall)
(All the money we save will pay for National Health)
They lied and were influenced by the same Russians bots and tools like Boris Johnson noted Blot on Western civilization
They were as shocked as we were with Trump with even those who voted for it going HUH? WHAT?
Where are all the benefits?
Nothing short of a Re-vote will fix it

They’ve been in uncharted waters since their stupid vote. And will still be if they tske her “deal”. They’ve made a mess and don’t know what to do about it.

Right? The PM is being a bit disingenuous suggesting present waters have been charted.

Haven’t they said there won’t be a revote? They’ve made a mistake and it seems they’re not going to make a reasonable choice. The EU’s not going to give a better deal, Parliament will reject the deal, Theresa May could be out.
For all of our problems with the Orange Clown, Britain does not have an easy choice.

Cameron fell on his sword after forcing an necessary referendum on Brexit and now it looks like May will fall on her sword as well. I can’t claim to understand British politics but is there really no common sense or middle ground, i.e., a revote but without Russian interference this time?
