They really had to think about how they were going do away with protections for preexisting conditions without actually saying it didn’t they. What a slimy bunch.
Yesterday’s bill was different. Tomorrow’s bill will be too.
Losers is losers. Full Stop.
But all will be awful. That’s the one immutable fact that you can take to the bank.
GOP: Home of the Whopper!
How stupid are these senators? We’ve already been there (high risk pools) and already flunked that “experiment”.
Texas had a state sponsored high risk pool before the ACA was created. It was a horrible plan and so expensive that few people could afford it. I and the DH were on it for a couple of years. Because of his health, we could not afford to be without insurance. IIRC my premium was around $800 a month. It was going up to $1200 just before the ACA kicked in. My monthly premium was less than $400, for much better coverage on the ACA. The high risk pool coverage was lousy - even with network providers, it only covered about 60% of any charges, especially big ones like MRI’s and CT scans. For months after the DH became eligible for Medicare, we were still paying off the several thousand dollars in “co-pays” from his hospital clinic where he gets scans every six months for his cancer. Since Medicare, we have not received a single bill from a health provider.
The very idea of separate risk pools indicates either a deep-seated ignorance about how insurance works, or actual hatred of the sick.
You see, that’s problem. People are under the mistaken belief that insurance companies provide a service to the people who pay into them. There’s no money in that.
The most disingenuous part of their argument is that states care more about your healthcare than the federal government. Our state would cut everything possible to create more tax cuts for the rich.
