They’re worse than just crazed. They’re boxed in. They’ve spent six years getting themselves elected and reelected by whipping the goobers up into a frenzy about the horror and awfulness of this terrible, freedom-destroying law. And, being dumbasses, they never had a thought about what they’d do if they ever caught the car.

And so now, here they are, dimly, within the constraints imposed by their limited intellects, perceiving that this is hard and complicated and that there are an awful lot of people in their states (who never bothered to call or write them, apparantly) who are about to get assfucked if they go through with repeal. Dimly they begin to grasp that having thundered loudly about how premiums were skyrocketing and families were putting off medical care because their deductibles were just so gosh darn high, they’ve put themselves in the position of having promised to make those things lower, but their plans all will make them higher or, worse, just eliminate their coverage altogether.

And so, now, here they are, with only two choices. Accept the political cost of outing themselves as lying hypocrites, suck it up and make a few tweaks to the existing law or point the car at the edge of cliff and floor the accelerator, dragging the whole nation over the edge of the abyss behind them. And so far, they’re going for the abyss option.

Their so drunk with power, and jacked up on arrogance they don’t care nor know what kind of outcome the repeal will have. So now there thinking about how it will impact their constituency back home who depend on ACA.

They WILL own this…

Repeal effective when?

The quote from the anonymous senator (so courageous!) blew my mind – about “realizing this could be our baby now”.

“Could be”?? How is it possible that a supposed adult could not be 100% aware that if they destroy the ACA, they will have complete and total ownership of whatever follows? How can they not get it by this point?

Here’s what will happen: Republicans are going to make some minor, superficial changes, rename the ACA then beat their chests and dry hump each other over defeating Obamacare.

<<House Republicans passed a budget resolution 227 to 198 that will go on to be their vehicle to repeal the Affordable Care Act >>

It looks like not all Republicans voted for it and a few joined the Dems. I know there is some site where we can find out the actual votes - who was ‘yea’ and who was ‘nay’ - but I can’t seem to find it. Does anyone know? My district has a new Republican Rep but he’s reported to be sane and semi-reasonable. I want to keep a close eye on what he does. Thanks to anyone who can help me find that site.

House and Senate GOP: “Oh look, it’s a third rail. I wonder what that does?”

*reaches out and grabs it

BTW if anyone wants to see hard numbers on how an ACA repeal would affect Americans, here’s a good link. Charles Gaba as done a shit ton of work on this, even broken it down to state by state and in some cases by county where he can get the numbers. I would encourage anyone to take this document and start hammering your reps with it now. Because I will guarandamntee you that nobody in the GOP has done this, and probably not many of the Dems either, sadly.

Here’s the roll call of the vote:

And the breakdown by state and party from GovTrack:

What do you expect? They are on the hook for every death that could’ve been prevented. Fucking scum.

Until their ACA healthcare goes away ("wait, I don’t have Obamacare, I have ACA! what? It’s the same??) along with the Medicaid that supports Grandma in the old folks home, and, oh yeah, their social security is reduced…

But by then it’s too late…

Thanks so much – have it bookmarked now. … And unfortunately it doesn’t appear that he was that sane and reasonable (or brave). Sigh.

I think they’re beginning to understand that old saying “be careful what you wish for” …

Remember how GOPers expel a good deal of hot air saying how they are dead set against over spending by our government and how in the past they have railed at democrats over this? How they shut down the government over the debt ceiling? Welp from Huffingtonpost.com there is this gem of a quote:

"After conservatives and GOP moderates spent a week signaling
that they might vote against the repeal vehicle, most Republicans fell
in line, with the House voting 227-198 in support of the resolution.
Only nine Republicans ultimately voted against it, joining 189 Democrats
in opposition to a budget that deems it “appropriate” for U.S. debt to
rise by more than $9 trillion over the next decade. "

But on the upside, I’m sure the tremendous economic boom sure to follow from Trump’s plan to gut financial regulations will carry them over any little problems.

“Because . . . Obama?,” they ask in a timorous, tentative voice.

After the 2018 congressional election.

Seems like the more complicated it is the more words would be in the law.

Republicans now own health care.

Here’s my prediction. Personally, I’m fortunate to have a job with benefits, probably the same general benefits as everyone else. Today, I got an invoice for some recent lab work.

The invoice listed the doctor’s charge as $103. The insurance paid $19. My balance?

Zero.

Donald Trump is going to stick the uninsured with a bill of… oh, say $115 or $120 bucks for lab work ordered by the doctor, and not questioned by patients. Trump will tighten up the regulations to force you to have that insurance and to pay that amount, and he’ll bully everybody into believing he’s a great negotiator because he singlehandedly “fixed” Obamacare.

Oh, and that $19? Shucks. Small change. Donald will take a $60 cut, and everybody wallows in money.

Except us.
