Discussion: The Praise Collins And Murkowski Won When Taking Divergent Kavanaugh Paths

My hope is that Collins never wins another election, that she is hounded by Maine constituents and forced to defend herself endlessly, and that she lives with deep regret and guilt for this vote.

Bingo, as a former NY Upstater, Schumer has been all but useless, unless you are a NYC Financial guru.

She gets all the rewards her handlers promised.

Crowdpac funding now over $3 million for Collins opponent in 2020. I’m sure Ms. lover of flip flops will retire before then.

Collins will be remembered as a villain of history.

Shorter Collins: I support #metoo. I just happen to think that women are naturally lying frail bitches so it is entirely possible that allthough Dr. Ford was clearly sexually assaulted she came forward and accused Kavanaugh without being certain sure it was him.

And she wonders why other women will now find her sickening.

Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Thanks. I’m often defending various individuals and segments of the media from overstated or too-broad attacks, but this was egregiously bad. I grew up in the news business and 30 years ago AP was very formulaic, always sticking with the staid conventional-wisdom view of things, what newsies call “hacks” because they put the bare minimum of effort and thought into it. That was 30 years ago. Today they’re much, much worse. It’s malpractice to accept Collin’s self-description as a “moderate.” All through this piece, bing, bing, bing, a thing is taken at face value when honest reporting would throw a flag. It’s just plain bad work.

I have never been to Maine that much. But I really want to end this woman’s Senate career. Her vote is indefensible; she made up some blarney about what a great guy he supposedly is, but it’s utter nonsense. Maine can surely do better!

Graham assures her that McCain woukd have been proud of her. What a crock. McCain would have seen through Kavanaugh in about two seconds flat. He might not have cared but he would not have been rolled. Susan was rolled.

McClatchy, McClatchy, McClatchy! Not perfect but far better than the AP.

Right. And what about all the other lock-step R’s who voted as a block to confirm this miserable unqualified partisan hack? Their “legacy” is wiping out another democracy. JFC, this whole treason crew is beyond the pale and just proves again how absolute power happens lacking sincere checks and balances. The worst traits of human beings, greed, power, lust, shameless predation of the nicer, weaker members. The surprise is that it hasn’t happened sooner, but then if it weren’t for the majority of people who are measured and supportive each other and our country, we’d have been flushed into the sewer a very long time ago. The only thing in my view that holds it all together is the better sides of most people.

She needs to be ousted, plain and simple

That is catchy phrase, but who the hell is looking for perfect? Being perfect I don’t think would allow for anyone to be apart of any Party.

wouldn’t be to quick to heap on the praise for Murkowski . Many times votes are constantly counted so if a politician is in trouble and they have enough votes to pass or deny something, they allow the person to buck the party. Obviously Manchin’s yes vote let Murkowski off the hook. No doubt in my mind if her vote had been needed she would have voted yes. She and Collins haven using this little dodge for awhile. Also brings goodies to their districts while being courted

Well we let a Democrat, Manchin, off the hook. We praise all the other Red State Senators who voted against K, and their numbers are not looking as good as Manchin’s +8. But Manchin is just doing what he has to do. Criticizing that Rep for voting against K and letting Manchin off the hook in the same breath is hypocrisy at its best.

History will remember Mitch McConnell as the man who broke the Senate and destroyed the legitimacy of the Supreme Court. Never mind naming a building for McCain — there will never be a McConnell Building.

A urinal in the public toilets at Metro Center, maybe.

You make omelets without breaking eggs? That’s an interesting recipe.

You didn’t struggle, Susan. You were a yes from the beginning. Frankly, we struggled through your over the top, over dramatic, over emotional, 45 minute handwringing and chest beating. You make me sick.
