Discussion: The North Carolina GOP Is Trying Every Trick To Keep A Supreme Court Seat

My state GOP loves there backroom 5 person commission, special sessions without time to read the bills voting.
I did vote for Earls yesterday, I did also vote against all Amendments to State Constitution as they should be handled Legislatively so that bad laws can be challenged, our current State Legislators do need to be challenged.

I do hope others do the same, regardless of their Political Persuasion, because we are on a slippery slope of all but a handful having a voice.

Having lived it, reading this was gut churning. Only thing missing was the Koch/ALEC connection.

Excellent article!

It certainly is. Unfortunately, even if Republicans are swept out of power, they have tilted the system and courts in their favor for a long time.

I take it Art Pope is also dumping his money into it as well.

I think one of the biggest reasons that they’ve put their ‘true believers’ in judicial seats (especially the federal judiciary, when many of the appointees aren’t even judges), is that they hope to litigate themselves into keeping their seats ad infintum.

The Republican party is the most anti-democratic political party I think the country has ever seen. They won’t be happy until they create a US that has the authoritarian governance of the former Soviet Union wrapped up with the theocratic bent that countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia presently have.

Art Pope is the Koch/ALEC connection. It’s an under-appreciated fact in this state. He gets treated like he’s some kind of home-grown mini-Koch when, in fact, he’s deeply tied in with them, their money and their agenda.
