I think that Republicans realize that if they retain majority in Congress it will be politically untenable to protect this administration another two years.
However in Dems are in the majority, they can slam dems for trying to take down Trump.
Since Republicans have given away so much to corporate America especially the MSM and also own a propaganda outfit (Fox) they may go along with it.
Republican plan would be to try and save 2020 and steal, via gerrymandering, another 10 years of overrepresentation in the house.

So let me see if I understand. First the GOP and their fellow travelers don’t want them here and want to build a wall to keep them out. Now, they want to catch them and keep them here indefinitely at a cost of million if not billions. Makes perfect sense to me
