Trump was right: I’m gonna like winning.

I love the part where the seemingly endless months of committee hearing and publicly released committee drafts and reconciliation committee meetings and extensive policy debates in mass media never happened. Nope, just slipped under the door one night like that little ethics committee rule change they got burned on (which is soooo unfair when They got away with that Obummercare Pearl Harbor thing!).

House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) told TPM that some members in the GOP’s ranks had been surprised by the complications of repealing and replacing Obamacare. It was a central campaign promise and refrain, but in action, it is far more complicated to undo.

Republicans could live with throwing ordinary people to the dogs on health care. They could try to spin it as Obama’s fault and maybe even get away with it. But I’m sure they’re now getting grief from the hospitals and the insurance companies. THAT gets their attention.

They don’t know how to replace it because they never understood it in the first place. They don’t want to replace it because they’re not convinced all people deserve health insurance. They can’t replace it because they’re incompetent and uninterested.

Sadly, the thing they CAN do is fuck the whole thing up bad enough that everyone loses.

Every Republican Lie About Passing Obamacare Is True About Repealing It

The disfunction is a feature not a defect. The damage done by repeal imperils their re-election chances, so instead safe senators from purple areas, and high minded ideologues will grind things to a halt. Thus they can rail against tyranny yet deliver no solution.

These are the same people that undermine their own budget in the final hours for silly BS, amend poison pills, and commit general acts of fuckery as a standard operating procedure.

Its all kabuki theatre

My dream scenario, and I say this as someone with a chronic nerve condition, is for republicans to repeal the ACA and plunge the health care system into chaos. Rates skyrocket, employers begin to cancel health insurance benefits, and general mayhem follows.

In 2018 dems take over congress and through a combination of flattery and threats of impeachment they force Trump to help enact Medicare for All (called “Trumpcare” to stroke His ego).

Back in reality, my expectation is that the ACA is repealed, mayhem ensues which the GOP successfully blame on democrats and thus cement a generation of absolute GOP dominance at all levels of government.

Raise money by telling the rubes how Obamacare is ruining America.
Run on ending Obamacare.
Gain control of the House and Senate.
Complain ending Obamacare is hard.
Get in pissing contest with POTUS-elect over what to do.
Make up history of how the ACA was passed.
Spend millions on committee meetings that go nowhere.
Fail to end Obamacare.
Blame Democrats for failure to end Obamacare, the worst thing ever.
Raise money by telling the rubes how Obamacare is ruining America…
Repeat until the next worst thing ever comes along.

The Republicans have no alternative to Obamacare, because Obamacare is the conservative health care program.

ETA this post subject to change as republicans do more maneuvering.

“Middle of the night”

Yeah, I remember staying up til 3 A.M. Eastern time to watch the committee hearing on C-SPAN. No problem for me, but I can see why a low-energy guy like Brady might have a problem with that.

Sheesh. History of the legislation from Max: http://www.finance.senate.gov/chairmans-news/the-numbers-on-a-full-and-transparent-process-the-senate-finance-committee-and-health-care-reform

What kind of education did these bozos get? Someone should talk to their teachers! I suggest that TPM gets on the horn and finds out which charter schools these geniuses went to.

The House Freedom Caucus was FOUNDED at Tortilla Coast.

In other news American patriots protested their oppression at the hands of the British by dressing as Indians. Americans don’t do irony.

Just go Single-Payer and be done with it! God forbid the Republicans actually pay attention to the American People for more than 5 minutes! Single-Payer takes 2 seconds!!!

Yes, we must never suggest his amazement at the complexities of actually governing is because he’s a fucking mendacious piece of shit. What if people started repeating such foul accusations? Think of the damage to his reputation.

I certainly hope others, particular his constituents, don’t pick up on the rumor he’s nothing but a fucking mendacious piece of shit. Everyone, please help spread the word before this gets out of hand.
