Discussion: The Conspicuous Gap In Mueller's Case Against Trump Adviser Papadopoulos

Trump disappears while on his Asia trip. He soon reappears in Moscow (courtesy of Putin) and resigns the presidency. There he stays for the rest of his life.

Not alone…

What good would he be to Putin, if he’s no longer President?
Why would he keep him around?
His charm? The pleasure of his company?

No need to get excited. He may have just been bringing him coffee.

An interesting side note. Graham is pushing for Sessions to return to Congress to address his lying. Brian Beutler made the observation that for some time now, Graham has been largely operating from the Trump hymn book, so he may very well be forecasting the WH’s attitude towards Sessions.

Either way, I think Sessions is on borrowed time right now.

Good analysis! Iceberg Mueller; I don’t think it will catch on, but I like the sound of it.

Which they basically did this weekend, by planting the story that they have enough to convict Flynn and his son right now. Now maybe he does, an indictments will be coming down this week. Or maybe he is just stirring the pot and making Trumpers think Flynn is cooperating now.

But the key thing to me about that story is…This makes 2 weekends in a row where they have dropped something on Friday and let the Trumpers stew over the weekend about what is coming.

I was going to post pretty much the same thing.

That plus every time I see “Papadopoulos” in print I think of a character from Tintin who styled himself as a movie director but was — I believe — involved in the opium trade. Either that or human trafficking.

Tierney strikes again. Well played!

And hopefully Mueller himself is locked down with body guards.

Iceberg Mueller versus the Trumptanic. Guess who wins?

Rastapopoulos. One of the great villains.

Thanks for posting. I think another part of this piece that is missing is Papado’s itinerary. He was viewed by a number of foreign countries as a key Trump emissary. That he appeared to be in Greece around the same time as Putin in May (when his communications back and forth were at their height) is interesting. I do believe Mueller is holding back.

He’s holding back on Manafort as well. The article this weekend on Flynn also suggests a holding back. The crimes reported are white collar. Mueller is holding back on FECA, conspiracy, and other criminal acts. Smart strategy because if Trump/Cobb feel like those guys can take the fall he’ll let them fall. It’s when Mueller indicts family and others for crimes which directly implicate Trump that we run the risk of a firing/constitutional crisis.

I’m worried about the tea. Mueller needs to be VERY careful about drinking any offered cup of tea. ANY. Actually, everything he consumes should be vetted.

The Bloomberg article today on their interview with Veselnitskaya seems to blow the door wide open on indicting Trump Jr, Manafort and Kushner for conspiracy to violate the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA).

Veselnitskaya now says that Jr offered to re-examine the Magnitsky Act in exchange for the dirt she had regarding dirty campaign money that she alleged came from Russians. One piece that Veselnitskaya is holding back is whether there was any mention of the emails which the Trump campaign coveted and knew the Russians had per Papaodopoulos’ conversations with his RU contacts back in April 2016. Trump made an appearance at TT hours after the 6/9/16 meeting to foreshadow that he had a big revelation in store regarding HRC’s email story. It seemed that Trump was banking on such information, except that the Russians held back the release until further commitments were cemented in late June and early July (Ukraine/Page visit) and Wikileaks released the first batch of DNC emails on 7/22.

That said, even if Mueller can’t get any further evidence to document whether emails were discussed at the 6/9/16 meeting at TT, there is already enough to establish a quid pro quo between the two sides and an intent to violate the federal election campaign act.

The day Mueller indicts Trumps family members needs to be the day he throws the book at Trump. He will have to release a tsunami of evidence that tarnishes Trumps presidency so completely that even FOX is left sputtering.

Which I believe is in the works.

Would be good to have the Pee Pee tape or his scandals relating to the Trump modeling agency ready to go when he indicts the family. If Mueller can pull a Weinstein on Trump, it could break him as effectively as any indictment.
