Discussion: The Atlantic Reveals Private Messages Between Donald Trump Jr And Wikileaks

Every time I start to think that we’ve seen the general shape of the Trump/Russia affair something new and different pops up. It is hard to imagine how broad this story will become, or how how many people will get burned before it ends.

With a bit of luck, the whole Trump clan could end up in jail, before it is over.

One very nice side effect is that my wife and I no longer an ongoing debate over whether Assange is a virtuous internet rebel or a scoundrel.

Don Jr, was a low level staffer, a volunteer and he was only on the campaign for a short time.

Wouldn’t have known him if he was in the room, to be quite honest with you.

when does the conversation regarding the illegitimacy of this executive branch begin in earnest and in the public sphere?

The question needs to be asked loudly and clearly by those who possess the soap box.

“Based on all that we publicly know at this time, can the results of the 2016 Presidential election be challenged as illegitimate?”

Then that opens the can of, is Gosuch’s appointment to the Supreme Court legitimate? I am poorly versed in the legal realm, but if the election was not legitimate, then can one reasonably challenge any ruling by a tRUmp appointed judge? Does that open a huge can of worms, can someone who has had a ruling against them by a tRUmp appointed judge challenge the ruling based on the fact that the ruling judge would not have been there save for a stolen election?

The Senate confirmation vote would protect anything Gorsuch does.

My favorite message so far from Wikileaks to Dump Jr.

“Hey Don. We have an unusual idea. Leak us one or more of your father’s tax returns…If we publish them it will dramatically improve the perception of our impartiality. That means that the vast amount of stuff that we are publishing on Clinton will have much higher impact, because it won’t be perceived as coming from a ‘pro-Trump’ ‘pro-Russia’ source. The same for any other negative stuff (documents, recordings) that you think has a decent chance of coming out. Let us put it out.”

Probably no recourse, but I agree with your sentiments.

At times, Wikileaks made requests of Trump Jr. — such as an October 21 suggestion that the campaign turn over to the website the elder Trump’s tax returns — that went unrequited. According to the Atlantic report, the Wikileaks account also recommended that Trump challenge the election if he lost, and even, in December, asked that Trump push for Assange to be the Australian ambassador the U.S.

The final Wikileaks message to Trump Jr. in the Atlantic report was a July 2017 message to the President’s son asking him to leak to them emails about his July 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Kremlin-affiliated figures,

Those are obvious Russian feeds? Why would the Russians want to have Trump´s tax returns released? Why would they want to Jr. to leak emails about a meeting between their proxies and Trump people? Sounds more like trolling to me.

Let’s not forget the role of Nigel Farage, the British Brexiter, who probably served as a go-between between Assange and Trump. And maybe even Putin. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he turns out to be a Russian agent.

BTW, Conway and Bannon are also now implicated in this. I’m sure Mueller’s on it.

Well, I guess Number One Son has Jiminy Cricket on his shoulder, because dreams really do come true. You’re just as big of a treasonous asshole as your father, Trumpspawn.

There’s no remedy in the Constitution for a tainted election per se. I’d settle for impeaching its beneficiary. The rest we’ll have to work around somehow.
