1./ How mean?
2./ How heartless?
3./ How gutless?
4./ How feckless?
5./ How self-dealing?
- How solidly is the fix in, with the rest of it for show.
Please donât refer to it as âObamacare repeal.â Itâs an upward wealth transfer, a tax cut, a robbery, a death panel.
If passed, parts of the ACA will likely remain, though gravely damaged.
Am I the only one who is getting sick of seeing the sour faced, know-nothing Barasso at McConnellâs elbow every time somebody uncaps a camera?
For the GOP, the only certain thing is this harbinger of their impending doomâŚ
The latest version has 13% approval in the nation. The issue shouldnât be whether McConnell can round up the votes to get it to 50, but rather can he round up 5. I am appalled that Republicans are standing behind the destruction of Medicaid. They arenât in shielded safe districts. They have to run state wide. There are other rural states beyond West Virginia that are totally dependent on Medicaid. It is hard to see how senators in those states vote for anything that guts itâŚ
Oh I thought they were talking about the 5 guys in the picture!
Republican senators are in a dilemma of their own making. If they vote to gut medicaid, some of their constituents will vote against them, and they might not be re-elected. If they vote not to cut taxes for their rich donors, they will be primaried and have a much harder time raising campaign funds. And perhaps more probably might not be re-elected.
Perhaps for some of them, killing thousands of people prematurely also enters into the calculation.
it appears the GOP Senate bill will retain the Obamacare taxes, but it will destroy Medicaid. I have to wonder if the plan is now to tackle this as a 2 step process. First get rid of Medicaid and then come back later and tweak the subsidies and give the rich their tax cuts.
You are not!
Canât believe Iâm actually calling for a government shutdown, but at this point, it is the only sane thing to do, and I am not joshinâ. Donât defund it but just shut it down for now.
CONGRESS NEEDS TO TAKE A LONG BREAK!
SHUT IT DOWN UNTIL THE TRUMP/RUSSIA INVESTIGATION IS OVER!
Republicans have done it before, FOR MUCH MORE SELFISH AND POLITICAL REASONS, and it is more obvious every day that our nation stumbles along quite independently of those lawmakers who imagine themselves the mastercogs in our daily construct.
Yet they are PROVING EVERY DAY THEY PRETEND TO MAKE LAW that they are not attached to The People and the common reality any more, in any way but sleazy elections.
You DO NOT represent The People any more, so stop trying to pretend you are passing laws as our representatives.
Congressional Republicans need to shut down their whole operation in Congress until the Trump disaster is dealt with, because they donât represent even a fraction of the people, let alone a majority in the current state of affairs, and we would be gbetter off without their frantic antics-for-the-rich embarrassing us all.
Their delusional false majority is running with this plump Trump football as if they have a mandate. Yet they donât even have a majority in their own party, let alone with the vast non-voting public they claim to mystically represent. All they really have is an overinflated pigskin.
The ACA, in particular, needs to be protected, because the damage from Trumpcare would truly be a monumental national disaster.
We can go back and fix the difficulties created by any tax breaks they might give away to themselves and their wealthy patrons, we can reverse overspending on an arcane steam-powered military, we can even get back some of the democracy we lost to their gerrymandering and voter suppression.
But we will never be able to retrieve the lost lives of the ACA dependent, those people who will die because of careless ACA repeal, along with untold suffering by millions of others whose precious, life sustaining and improving healthcare has been wrested from their lives.
Everything else Republicans manage to damage as they run with their fat fantasy football, we can ameliorate, but if this repeal demon wins, the results will be so very real to so many people, it is profoundly disturbing that it so casually escapes both their conscious awareness and their conscience.
Just what will it take for the real patriotic remnant among them to join the ranks of sanity and condemn this charade as the massive mistake it is?
Or are they so deeply buried in their left-hating prejudices and its profane politics, their patriotism is completely abandoned? And for a few, it sems as if even their very faith is lost in their desperate struggle to protect and promote their most ill-learned prejudices.
Every one of you who believes in a United States in any way has to make that hard choice.
Humility heals.
Yes, but just as you listed it, this consideration is dead last! They barely care at all about the premature deaths of tens of thousands a year. Predictable by now, huh?
Well, close.
First get rid of Medicaid, and then come back later to get rid of Medicare and Social Security!
These goons always line up the same way for photo ops and announcements. Turtle in the middle, Cornyn on the right, Barrasso and Blunt on the left. Thune always looks like heâs suppressing something - either a bwahaha laugh or the urge to punch a reporter.
And Thune looks like heâs biting his tongue!
Never have I ever been so happy to watch a vile human being squirm as I am seeing Mitch McConnell writhe about trying to find some way to make his bag of dog feces smell like roses to his very own party members.
There just may be justice in the world.
âA fully amendable bill after the motion to proceed should give everyone a sense that theyâll have an opportunity to make whatever point they want to make,â Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), a member of the GOP leadership team, said. (emphasis added)
There is certainly a LOT of âfixâ it seems. Note that just because itâs Amendable doesnât mean any amendments will actually be added.
So much show so people can make whatever point they want then vote to remove 10s of 1000s of people from health care coverage.
