Discussion for article #240499
Back then, we foolishly thought that David Duke was the more backward, evil person in that debate. He might have been, but the difference is within evil’s margin of error
Look at all that hair. This must have been before Walker bumped his head on that kitchen cabinet. In the manliest of all possible ways, of course.
Oh, how I long for the halcyon days when you could not openly speak racism in the GOP - you could only dog-whistle it.
Lightweight then, lightweight now. Some things never change.
Weird. His odious political career as a Republican looks like it will be bookended on both the front (Duke) and back (Trump) by him attempting to block other odious people from doing odious things on behalf of his odious political party.
Boy, did David Duke ever win that debate.
New bumper sticker: Scott Walker: Unready then, unready now
It is remarkable to listen to David Duke spouting the very same talking points, often in precisely the same language, that the GOP has adopted virtually unanimously today.
Scott Walker trying to keep David Duke off the ballot is just a perfect symbol for the Republican Party trying to hide what they stand for_____Everything David Duke represents.
And they’re still doing it today. They do it every time they try to silence Donald Trump, plead with him to “tone it down,” and shrink from view or run and hide every time he opens his bigoted mouth and says exactly what they themselves are thinking.
“My god! We can’t let “those people” KNOW what we really think about them. The dupes could stop voting for us and we won’t be able to keep up our charade, so tone it down.”
Gosh, if you can’t stand up to David Duke who can you stand up to?
Of what value is this story and how is it politically relevant? Walker is not the same person as he was in 1992. I know TPM specializes in recycled news, but this is really pushing it. The Kim Davis billboard story which first appeared in Huffington Post last Saturday, finally made it to TPM on Monday. Most stories here at TPM are day old leftovers from Rawstory or Mediaite. On occasion, some can be up to a week old. I seldom comment anymore, so coming to TPM for recycled news is rather pointless.
Which is exactly how–and why–the Kochs are able and want to control the man. They appear to be getting their money’s worth.
Duke said he had a bookstore that carried “Mein Kampf” and “Das Kapital” but denied selling the books out of his office.
Who doesn’t own a copy of Mein Kampf?
Right? It’s yet another thing that people who don’t pay attention, or the MSM, treat as kind of an over-the-top liberal slur that is simply a literal truth that our institutions are simply incapable of assimilating or processing. Which is ironic, given that they assimilated the 90’s Duke/50’s Bircher ideology without so much as an uneasy burp.
Does the Anarchist Cookbook count?
The job of telling David Duke, “no you dipstick, you can’t say that out loud!” was more valuable to a guy like Walker than completing his college degree. Marquette should be more embarrassed that Walker dropped out for this than that they ever admitted him in the first place.
Correct, it’s no different than when FOX would say the late Senator Robert Byrd was with the KKK. Yes, when he was a kid. Then he grew up. And in this case, Walker is not agreeing with Duke anyway. So basically this big story is they found 1992 footage of Scott Walker. Wow. Also, the story in this one is more what a horrible debater he is, not who he is debating. He has zero presence or charisma, he is a horrible candidate even if one agrees with his views.
But David Duke was the “click bait”.
You’ve perfectly articulated the thing that drives me crazy about what passes for journalism in the popular media.
Man the callers into the show are all wanting David Duke.
And here I thought only Democrats wanted David Duke or Donald Trump on the Republican ballet.
