Governor also advised the school districts that he would immediately call for the state legislature to pass a $10 billion tax increase to replace the Title IX funds they would lose by following his demand for sexual discrimination. Heâs an idiot and a demagogue, but he has a right to be. The federal guidance was just thatâan opinion on the law, not a binding interpretation. Thatâs what I believe to be the flaw at the heart of the suit that states have brought over the guidance: until some state or local government actually loses, or at least is threatened directly with losing federal funds, there is no case or controversy for the state to sue about. By the same token, school districts and states are free to ignore the guidance and risk loss of federal funds should the federal government choose to take that route.

Iâm really beginning to think thereâs more to this than just trying to excite the GOP/TeaParty base. Why the obsession with public toilets. What is it about where someone goes to pee that causes so much anxiety in these folks. Of all the issues facing the states of Texas, NC, Tenn etc. why toilets and gay marriage? I think a lot of this might be due to that fact that folks like the Texas Lt. Gov. have something in their past that they are ashamed of and this is his attempt to get right with baby Jesus. Could it be that Mr. Patrick has a Denny Hastert problem in his past?

Itâs not clear what power, if any, Patrick thinks he has over local school policies as lieutenant governor.
This is what happens when a former sportscaster/ AMH8 radio host gets elected to office. Theyâve no clue.
Iâm sensing (or it may be just wishful thinking) that many of us are just starting to ignore Patrick. He is showing his limitations beyond being a talk radio host. Most of the big school districts (those with budget and power) will just tell him to stay out of their business. At least here in San Antonio, we have the House Speaker on our side to push back.
