Posturing asshole will do absolutely anything to gin up the know-nothing Jeebus-thumping base.

Wait a minute. How does Abbott know they are mocking anything? And so what if they are?

“Earlier this month, Abbott had urged one Texas city to keep up a nativity scene outside of its city hall. Fearing a legal battle, the City of Orange removed its nativity scene after an atheist group requested a “happy holidays” sign be hung next to it.”

You crazy atheists, you. Thanks for keeping things real.

Who died and left this asshole Pope?

It should have been removed because it was both an abomination against art and taste.

But Abbott, being a fucking retard, chose the dumbest possible reason. Naturally.

It’s the three Darth Vaders that win this for me.

“[N]o obligation to approve displays that purposefully mock the sincere religious beliefs of others.”

The US Constitution mocks religion?

Huh.

Well, I guess you learn something new every day.

If a FauXian 's running a-mock-a-mock-amock…

I don’t know. Bill and Ted are a pretty logical addition to most nativity scenes. Maybe add in The Doctor while you’re at it.

The people of Texas will probably end up paying out millions over this blatant violation of the first amendment.

What about my right to have Allah-O-Akbar sign?

More and more, Abbot is really making me miss Rick Perry. Perry might have been an idiot, but at least he wasn’t an offensive idiot. It’s like Abbot just goes out of his way to do the wrong thing, while Perry was mostly harmless.

And without a doubt, I can’t stand people who act like religious beliefs are more important than any other belief. I’ve got no problem with religion, just as long as believers don’t act like their beliefs trump everything else.

And yeah, funny how the Founding Fathers made a point of including a part in the Constitution forbidding the government from endorsing religion while failing to mention Jesus at all. But since it offends Abbot’s sincerely held belief that this is a Christian nation, no one is allowed to suggest otherwise. After all, his beliefs are so sincere that it doesn’t matter if they’re wrong.

But hold it. What about those big wingnut murals of Jesus handing down the Constitution?

I wonder if Abbott has presidential ambitions.
