Somebody please kick the wheel out from under his chair.

Yeah you’re right about that - none of us here agree with you. We live in reality not an alternate one.

Probably. I’m pretty sure he lives in a cartoon version of reality in which pretty much everything is delusional.

At that time we can clarify the 2nd amendment. I don’t think we or the Guv wants to go there.

Actually, in this very special case, when spoken by Abbott, the correct form is Texasses’.

Since it is the Queen’s English, I will have to go with the Oxford Dictionary.

Personal names that end in –s

With personal names that end in -s: add an apostrophe plus s when you would naturally pronounce an extra s if you said the word out loud:

Two of Ray Charles’s children were at the event.

Dickens’s novels provide a wonderful insight into Victorian England.

Thomas’s brother was injured in the accident.

Note that there are some exceptions to this rule, especially in names of places or organizations, for example:

St Thomas’ Hospital in London

Since Texas is a place, it should be written Texas’.

So Abbott is basically saying that everything the Feds and SCOTUS have been doing are Constitutional. Otherwise a Constitutional Convention wouldn’t be needed to change the Constitution.

I’ve seen authorities differ on this—my AP style guide says one thing, Strunk & White say another, and I’m sure I could go pulling books off the shelf and get more varying opinions. I’ll say this once again, before I get in another running battle with old friends here—there’s no one authority in English that says matters of style must be one way or the other. You pick a guide that works for you and you get on with life.

Another reason never to move to Texas.

I’ve seen authorities differ on this

And in such cases, it is obnoxious to tag with a “sic” a usage that even one of those authorities deems correct. Especially in an article that misspells the governor’s name as “Abbot”.

I know, how many businesses exist with zero credit, only spend exactly what they have? Seriously? A good portion of the crash that occurred in 2007 was a drying up of credit because the banks no longer trusted each other.

“Anyone who has ever taken a freshman level college economics class knows that a balanced budget at the Federal level is a stupid, stupid, idea.”

No, anyone who has ever passed such a class should know that.

I had a lot of students who never learned this concept, but most of them dropped the class or failed it completely.

Abbott is the center of a Venn Diagram marked “Tenther” and “Schizophrenia.”

X. Any and all references to "BBQ " in recipes, menus and cookbooks shall refer solely to Texas style BBQ. All other types will be referred to as " smoked meat product. "

A pro-tip for Texas voters who don’t want their state to be a laughing stock: Vote for the smarter of the two candidates next time.

Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution is commonly referred to as the Supremacy Clause. It establishes that the federal constitution, and federal law generally, take precedence over state laws, and even state constitutions.

I guess the Guv never read the current Constitution
