Is there something not quite right about the timeline of events? Don’t want to be a conspiracy nut, but he doesn’t show for breakfast, presumably found by the Secret Service and/or US Marshals in his room by 9, maybe 10 am, confirmed death by noonish. Why no public announcement until 5 pm or so? This guy is very high profile.
I agree with the governor on almost all of his comments. Justice Scalia was the GOP’s Ayatollah on the bench. He defended the literal, not living, interpretation of the constitution like fundamentalists do with Q’ran or Bible. He supported patriarchal dominance and had no compunction about inserting gov’t into private, interpersonal transactions I disagree with the Governor that we should replace Justice Scalia with someone as ideological as he has been. Rest in Peace, Antonin, and my mind is more at rest.
Cinders are being cleared below in preparation for Scalia’s imminent arrival.
The longest Supreme Court confirmation process from nomination to resolution was Louis Brandeis in 1916, taking 125 days. Highly political, with a heavy touch of antisemitism.
Obama has 342 days left in office.
As an addendum: A 4-4 SCOTUS could be a benefit to the Dem. ticket. A logjam within the SCOTUS and the Senate could be leveraged to the benefit of the DSCC in the “right hands”.DWS not considered.
a vote will happen by the summer
haha
the former is too hard to see right now, but just because a GOP president (not named Trump or Cruz) might nominate someone, doesn’t mean that the f— won’t get ‘Borked’,
well he did thrive on direction…
He was the solid rock who turned away so many attempts to depart from and distort the Constitution.
You know something, he’s right
Scalia was a one of a kind justice and that’s an accomplishment that he can share with no one. He made sure that the Constitution was followed to the letter. No matter what the outcome came to be…
Rest in peace Antonin.
May you find the blissful satisfaction in your next life that clearly escaped you in this one,
