Walk down memory lane - 2013 Sandy Vote for Flood Insurance. Count the Texans on that list Governor Abbott. http://gawker.com/5973255/here-are-the-republicans-who-voted-no-on-hurricane-sandy-relief-funds

Not until Texas spends its $10 billion so-called “Rainy Day Fund” first.

Then use the Cowboys billion dollar stadium as long-term housing, as that would be the most productive and entertaining use of that facility.

I would really like these aid packages to be tied to 1) paying prevailing wages, & 2) improved flood & disaster building codes.

And, as @maximus said, spend some of their own funds!

One can only conclude that they have “revisited” their inclination to secede…

“Gov. Greg Abbott says Texas expects to seek more than $50 billion in federal housing funding after Hurricane Harvey.”

There were 100,000 homeless children in Texas before Hurricane Harvey.

How come Texas only had a “housing crisis” after property owners on the coast got flooded?

That $50 billion would’ve bought a $500,000 house (!) for every single homeless child in Texas.

If that money existed after the storm, then it existed before the storm.

The GOP Governor and Congressional majority just don’t give a damn about children.

A hundred thousand kids can starve, freeze, or be raped on the street for all any Republican cares.

And they do.

Every. Single. Night.

Am I the only one who finds it absurd that the Federal govt. is giving TX and FL enormous sums of money that one would think would be significantly reduced if citizens of that state, I don’t know, paid taxes? Some of the lowest contributing states for Federal taxes and NO state taxes. But then they get 50 Billion in aid? Ridiculous.

The next logical step for the GOP is pass a large tax cut for the rich.

Damn.Powerful.Post.

Thankyou irasdad. Your post needs to be repeated. Often.

Funny how these cowboy bootstrap boosters are suddenly all into socialism-based relief when hurricanes hit.

Is that before or after secession?

I agree with the Gov. The Feds should come up with the funds. Matching funds. Every dollar Texas raises the Feds will match.

But, but, but what about the free market, mister republican?

I agree. This hurricane and weeks of rain are the literal example of a rainy day.
